Anyone have a rice allergy? LO has gotten sick the last 3-4x we gave him rice products. He mostly eats BM, and we had the problem with rice cereal and now rice crakers / mum mums. He spits up and sometimes has D. He did have some rice cereal when he was maybe 6 months old w/o incident.
I am Celiac/gluten free, so I eat lots of rice products, and he never seems sick from my BM.

Re: possible rice allergy ?
We fed him this cereal a few times, reaction last 2x - brown rice:

Then, we fed him half a cracker about a month ago & one TINY bite today, making him sick (japonica rice?):

My daughter tested very positive to rice at 9 months old. I had skipped rice and oats and went right to fruits and veggies, so she never really had rice or oats. I have no idea what kind of reaction she would have had.
The symptoms definitely sound like an allergic reaction. I would want her to be tested if I were you. Finding a good pediatric allergist is the first step!
My daughter just got retested last Friday for rice and it was negative. I am too scared to give it to her since she used to be very positive!

They both claim to be GF, but I think the mum-mums are produced in a facility that also uses wheat (assuming the same for the cereal).
we have been very slow in introducing foods, since we have other food allergies in our families, so the only other grain he has had was gluten free oats made into oatmeal by me (Bob's Red Mill). That did not cause a reaction. I am thinking about trying millet or quinoa next, but LO really is pretty slow to accept solids. He loves the mommy juice!
Do you all think I should try plain white rice next week or just go ahead and see a doctor? He also has some skin issues, and I'll feel so bad if it is the rice. I eat rice products all the time, as you can imagine, being a Celiac. I will happily give it up if needed but that will be a major challenge!

My daughter (2.5 years) was diagnosed with a rice (and corn and oat) allergy last week. Her symptoms were much like you describe--intermittent d, stomach upset. And, she never seemed to react to my breastmilk, even though rice is my go to grain, being wheat and corn allergic myself.
For what it's worth, your ped is right. Rice allergy is extremely uncommon. It's just that the uncommon is not impossible. You might consider allergy testing to see if your little one reacts. My daughter is doing a lot better with only a week totally rice free. The biggest problem is that it's really hard to cook one meal for our family mix of allergies.
Except the organic ones, which btw are also made in a different facility on different machines, so you might want to try those since they are less likely to be cross contaminated.
He may have a sensitivity to carbs/starch, which most babies experience from in-utero. The rash may be candida-related, which is an overabundance of yeast in the body. It may be best to schedule an appointment with a specialist in diet, nutrition, and enzymes.
