recommend your freezer..

I posted on the BF board but curious about your answers as well.

H and I are looking into deep freezers since my BM has taken over our little freezer. Wondering which is better chest or stand up?

what is your favorite one. tia

We bought our chest freezer at Costco and I LOVE it. A perk of a chest freezer is you don't lose as much cold air when you open and close it. One crummy aspect though is you need to know what's in it and roughly where or you'll go nuts digging for things- I imagine its easier to find things in a stand up.

In general I like stand ups more. Chest freezers are easier to lose things waaaay at the bottom. And if there is something down there you have to dig or you have to rotate things to make sure nothing old gets left behind.

we have a Frigidaire upright freezer. abut 14cubic ft. the chests are cheaper but it wouldn;t fit where we needed to put it so the upright we got. Plus you can see what is in there better and its easier to organize to get to older milk first. you can lock the door with a push button and also adjust the temp. Here's a pic of how I organized my milk. The oldest is on the top shelf and then each shelf below that is the next month.
