I'm having a difficult time finding a VBAC friendly OB. I live near downtown, but originally sought out the OB I used years back. I'm 41 and having my first child in 20 years. I keep running into a "case by case" allowance for VBAC but they require the records from the previous births - which have been destroyed/purged from both the OB office and the hospital. The hospital I used previously, in OP, no longer allows any VBAC. Without paperwork it seems very difficult to find a replacement. My first child was a c-section birth, the other two were natural with zero complication/problems.
Hoping someone here can recommend a doctor they know will take VBACs.
TIA
Re: VBAC friendly docs in Jacksonville?
Have you tried VanScriver at A Place for Women? I think they are the most pro-VBAC around.
GL!
Sanchez at Shands is VBAC friendly, but Shands is not a great place to give birth. Besides that, you keep hearing about Van Scriver because, well, they're THE natural childbirth/VBAC practice, lol.
(But since you've had VBACs already, any of the local HB MWs should take you as well, if you choose, including Fruitful Vine).
Really? Just from cursory reading on line I was under the impression that VBACs were not allowed at all in FL birth centers. I'll keep that in mind, thanks for passing on that information.
Out of curiosity, why isn't Shands a good option?
from my understanding you have to have had a VBAC before a center can take you on. It can't be your first VBAC. I would call and ask. They have a list of things that risk you out and they are very up front about it.
kimberly will have to tell you about Shands b/c I know nothing about them other than it is a sketchy area.
Ack! Sorry. I meant the FV midwives, not the birth center. You can have a homebirth, but no birth center. Oops!
Shands is a teaching hospital for one thing, and from what I understand, most of the residents/nurses are against VBAC. While Dr. Sanchez is occasionally willing to VBAC, you will have to deal with/fight the rest.
