TTC After a Loss

UTI?

I got home a little while ago and went to the bathroom. Now I have that yucky UTI feeling, except I haven't been peeing constantly. I got out my cranberry juice and I hope that helps. Is there something you recommend doing or taking? I haven't had one in a long time. I hope that this doesn't turn into one. I have so much to do the next 2 days. Not sure if I can fit in the doctor.

Lots and lots of water in addition to the cranberry juice. That always helps me get rid of them.

    Yup, this.

  • Ok these seem silly but they are good tips to prevent UTIs.

    1. Always empty your bladder. Don't hover pee (pee while squating) commonly done when using public restrooms. It is not good for someone prone to UTIs to do this. (I am not implying that you do, but just in case)

    2. Lean in while you urinate to push all the pee out of your bladder.  Kind of as if you were trying to touch your face to the ground.

    3. Pee after sex asap

    4. Drink cranberry juice (which you already are) and lots of water

    5. Don't hold your urine too long. Go when you feel the urge.

I just want to add to #3: Pee before sex too.

  • They also sell Azo-standard (pyridium) at the drugstore over the counter. It will make it less painful (also makes your P bright orange) but it works well. Lots of water and cran juice.

  • Thanks ladies, I am drinking as much cran juice and water as I can. It doesn't hurt when I pee so that is a good sign.

Can I take motrin? Would that even help with pain?

Oh yeah, I was on this once (only I had an Rx) and it looked like orange kool-aid in the toilet.

I would think motrin would be OK to take, but if you start having pain, I would go in and get on antibiotics.

  • I don't have any tips except to keep well hydrated.  That should help.  Hope you feel better soon.
