TTC After a Loss

if you get your pregnancy tests at the store

Do you ever feel embarrassed? I don't know what it is, I just hate buying them at the store. Like I'm a KU teenager or something. I guess it doesn't help that I look a lot younger than I am. I want the test to be positive, I want to be pregnant but something about it makes me feel like an ashamed kid. I am going to start ordering them online because it's less embarrassing. That or I need to grow up!!

  • I think I am more embarrassed to buy OPKs at the store...  it's weird.

It is sort of an uncomfortable thing to buy. I cashiered at a grocery store when I was a teen and I stupidly assumed everyone who was buying one was dreading the outcome, I don't know why. I order mine online but if I do go to a store I do check out the cashier first and look for someone older. So stupid but I do!

    This!

  • I always seem to run into someone I know when I have one in my cart, so then I have to kinda stand in front of the cart to chat so they can't see.  That also seems to happen when I have a giant box of tampons in my cart as well.

  • I've got no problems buying them in store.  The best is when you get a young guy at the checkout.  DH and I were originally TTA this month but I wanted to see when I O'd, so we bought condoms and OPK's at the same time!  Talk about confusing the cashier!

I don't feel embarrassed by it, but I did have something really annoying happen once. I got my second BFP while visiting my parents. It was a very very faint line on the FRER, so I decided to go to Walmart to get a digi to confirm. The woman in front of me in line at the checkout saw the box, looked at me and DH, and said "Uh-oh!" I looked at her and said "I'm almost 30 years old and married, it's not an uh-oh!"

I feel the same way. I feel even more stupid when I'm at the dollar store and buying multiple tests. Like I've already found out I'm KU and buying extra tests because I don't believe it or something.

Lol, me too. Last time I was in there I bought 20 tests and got some strange looks.

  • I feel embarassed when the cashier tries to say something helpful, but fails at it or when they think I'm some 18 year old that may be knocked up.

That's why I go to self check out at Wal-Mart! Big Smile

Because of the great "Snow"vember of 2015, my medicated cycle was cancelled.  However, we were blessed with our little rainbow baby due on 8/14/15!  Baby J had other plans and decided to make his grand ole entrance on 7/4/2015!

Surprise!  Our little girl entered this world on 12/8/2016 after her eviction notice was long past due.  Our little turkey baby turned into a snow baby!

  • I try to go to the self-checkout if at all possible.  I'm 32 - I don't know why I think it is a big deal.  I also always make sure that I wear my wedding band so that people don't give me the "Oh my, that lil' slut" look.  And so what if that were the case!

I look young for my age so I always get the looks, especially at the Walgreen's by my house. I live right by a retirement community so every employee there is some retired person. The last time we bought a pg test there the woman who was checking us out kept shaking her head like she was disgusted. I was totally annoyed so I started messing with her head. I looked at DH and was like "What am I going to do? My husband is going to kill me!" DH picked right up on it and said "You know my wife, she's going to have my hide!" The look on her face was priceless.

  • I go to the same place every time b/c it is on my way home. I feel like I have the same cashier each time. I have bought so many, that I think she recognizes me at this point. I feel like saying "Yes. I am back again and still not pg"!!!

  • I feel this way too & it is always awkward - especially when the cashier wants to get all personal & says "good luck"!

  • I do too.  I'm embarrassed when I buy the OPKs and when I buy multiple pregnancy tests.  I think the clerk must assume I'm a crazy person for buying so many! *LOL*

  • The only time I've had a cashier actually say something, was right before New Year's when I went through the line with a couple bottles of wine/liquor and OPKs.  I think she thought they were pregnancy tests because she said, "You know these things don't go well together, right?"  I just smiled and said thanks. haha
