Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Will he ever...

My DS slept two nights in a row for 5.5 hours, it was great! But, he has gone back to waking every three hours or so. He eats 4 oz. of formula every 2-2.5 hours during the day and the same amount at night whenever he wakes up. Should I be feeding more ounces? Will he ever STTN????

Obviously every baby is different, but DD is drinking at least 5 oz every feeding.  And, she is sleeping through the night.  If you think he might be ready for more formula.  Add a half ounce to the feeding, if he drinks it, make that the standard.  Maybe he is hungry...hey, it doesn't hurt to try.  That was just the advice I got when DS was born, and it has been a good standard to go by.

  • I can't help you with your question about feeding since I BF'd and never really knew how many ounces he was getting.  But yes, he will eventually STTN.  I'm not sure how old your lo is, but since I'm guessing under three months it is actually very normal for them not to be sttn yet.  And it is also normal for them to have good nights and bad nights.  I know it's exhausting and frustrating, but hang in there.
