I wish I had a photo but I don't.
Last night, I noticed that Lucas had a bump on his stomach that is about the size of my pinkie nail. The bump is red, raised, and if you look closely, it appears toto look like a blister -- there is come fluid inside. I put some Neosporin on it last night and this morning it looks the same. Lucas seems to be aware of the spot on his stomach and pointed and said "boo-boo". We asked him if it hurt and we asked how it happened, but since he is only 20 months, he wasn't able to answer.
Last night, I noticed a small pink spot about the same size about half an inches from his mouth. This morning, it is starting to resemble the spot on his stomach. I know the mouth probably has you thinking cold sore/fever blister, but it doesn't have that appearance at all.
We went out on our boat (on a river off the Chesapeake Bay) on Sunday and Lucas spent a fair amount of time in the water, but he didn't have his face/head in the water, though his face did get a little wet here and there from splashing.
Any thoughts or ideas what this could be?
Re: Diagnose this rash
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
Good thought, it looks like that could be a possibility.
Bulbous impetigo does have singular blisters.
It could definitely be this, but holy cow, it isn't nearly as bad as some of the photos that come up if you google it (which I don't recommend).
Do you remember how it was treated?
I'm going to start with Neosporin and washing it with hydrogen peroxide. If it doesn't clear up or start to look better in a day or two, I will take him in to the doctor.
The fact that there are only two lesions (for lack of a better word) and they are so far apart does seem like it could be a nasty bite. If that is the case, the bug that did this better watch his back!!
I called the pedi and she didn't seem horribly concerned but said I could come in if I was. I think I'll hold off unless it gets worse or doesn't get better in a few days.
