For the past few days DS has been constantly fussing and squirming. He is EBF and he doesn't always burp when I try to burp him during a feeding. Does anyone know of something I can do to help him pass the gas that seems to be making him so uncomfortble?
Re: Tips to help LO pass gas
Bicycle legs, or bring his legs up to his chest and gently push. Make sure legs are bent at the knee and not froggied.
Also, a clockwise circular massage on the lower ab. helps break up bubbles.
We do the massage, then work her legs, then massage, etc. until she seems happier. Or poops, which often happens.
We are also using gripe water, and she responds well to that.
Tummy time always gets my LO to burp. If he is trying to fart, I either push his legs up and hold them or help him sit up.
Bicycle legs never really worked for us.
All of this is great rec's ! I also laid A on her belly and patted her back. I still do this bc she is so gassy!
I recommend the I love you massage method. I do that, then bicycle the legs, and then push them up to his stomach while rotating, and that seems to really get things moving. If you do a youtube search for I love you baby massage, or i love you gas massage or something like that you should be able to find it. It is essentially a massage technique where you spell out the letters I, L, and U on their belly in certain areas to promote proper gas movage. Sounds weird, but it works and will probably make more sense when you see the video.
It's a great method, at least for us. My neighbor actually showed it to me a few weeks ago and I was delighted with how well it worked.
