The last 3 nights, Nicholas has not wanted to go to bed. Sunday he didn't go to bed until 2am. We tried everything from calm quiet time to playing with him to tire him out. He'd fall asleep while laying on our shoulder, but the secnd we put him down he started crying. I even laid on his floor with him in the crib and all he did was talk. So I got up to leave and he got upset. I thought about letting him CIO, but with my luck he'd wake up Ava. Then last night he didn't want to go down til almost 10. He didn't want to go down for his nap, but he eventually fell asleep for a little while (probably an hour). Today he didn't nap fat all and again he didn't want to go to bed. He was tired though, would lay his head on our shoulder and close his eyes. The second we'd try to transfer him, he'd get upset.
Not sure what's going on. We gave him Motrin in case he's teething (he won't let me look to check). Separation Anxiety? He's not sick- no fever and he seems totally fine during the day.
Sunday night, I was thisclose to letting him sleep with us, but he would think it's playtime.
I miss my "Goes to Sleep with No Issues" child.
Re: Nicholas is having bedtime issues- phase or what?
Well, I'm going to guess phase because we are going through the same thing. DD has always gone down with no problem (she sometimes had problems staying asleep, but not for the past 6 months). For the past couple of weeks it has taken forever to get her down at bedtime and she has gone a couple days with either no nap or a very short one (and it took hours to get her to finally take one). I'm really hoping it's a short-lived phase because she is one cranky toddler when she's tired!!
I'm thinking it's separation anxiety and then she gets overtired which doesn't help her sleep! She is also developing random fears, so sometimes she sees an imaginary bug
Hopefully Nicholas starts sleeping for you again soon!!
