May 2011 Moms

I quit this board.

I'm so OVER reading about everyone's babies and how they sleep through the night at 5 or 6 weeks. No offense - but I really really don't want to hear about it.

I'm out.

Re: I quit this board.

  • mine certainly doesn't sleep through the night or even near that lately. i understand. the past few nights he sleeps great from 10pm-3am then hes up and acting nuts until noon the next day. wtf kid?!

  • ha, not my kid

DS slept 5 hours in a row (11pm-4am) last night for the first time, he's 7 weeks. Before this we were waking every 2 hours. I think last night was a fluke.

  • If it makes you feel any better, I was just reading Baby 411 and it said that babies who sttn this early usually regress and forget how to in a few months anyway. So you'll likely just hear those mommies complain later. :) And FWIW the book also said that half of the parents saying their LOs sttn this early are lying anyway. Double smiley face!
  • My LO only sleeps 3 hours at a time. No matter how much she eats, sleeps, or plays during the day. It is always 3 hours. Atleast she's on a consistant schedule right? lol

Same here. At night she will do 4 and last night 5...obviously a fluke. I woke up anyway because I'm used to it, so not as great a it sounds!
  • My lo will sleep 3-4 hours, eat and sleep another 2-3.  if I need more sleep than that I gotta bring her in bed with us.

    Or really lucky.

I prefer to think they're full of $$hit.

Thank you for that. I honestly almost broke down after reading like the 10th person on here whose LO is supposedly sleeping 6-9 hours per night at this stage. I just can't hear about it right now.

Same with all those women who are at their pre-preg weight - I simply don't need to know about it given my current state of mind.

I totally agree! My kid slept 4 hours last night and it was a miracle. An average we are lucky to get her to sleep for 2 hours before she wakes up for more food.

  • If it makes you feel better we're lucky to get 2 hours between feedings.

  • My LO is sleeping 2 hrs between feedings. I sometimes have to pump after so I'm getting about 1 1/2 hrs if I'm lucky.. oh and I'm still a chunky monkey and still in my maternity clothes. You just don't hear us sleep deprived Momma's "bragging" about our lack of sleep. Hang in there with us!!

  • Oh no Hon, I am in mommy-hell right now. In fact, I think my daughter is leading the infant revolt. She has been up every HOUR overnight for the last few days. I am so tired and praying for the stage to be over soon.

This. I am so over hearing about how so many women are below their pre-pregnancy weight and in their pre-pregnancy clothes. It depresses me more and more each time I read those posts. While I work my a$$ off every day and work, working out at 5 am and watching my calorie intake and what I eat so carefully every day, and the scale doesn't move, or I even gain a pound... Seriously puts me in a funk.

WHAT?! Ugh, I'm not looking forward to that. Eliza doesn't sttn really but she only wakes up once and not for very long. I hope it at least stays like that. That I can handle. Waking every two hours is not conducive to my sleep habits.

The only reason why I am and I KNOW this is because I was a fatty to begin with. I'm jealous of all the ladies who will be a size 4 when they do lose the weight. I will never be a size 4. I hope one day to be a size 8. I would settle for a 10.

Gabriella wakes up every 2 hrs. religiously at night. I wonder about the babies that are supposedly STTN early on, as well.

  • Caitlin sleeps 4-5 hours at a clip at best and that is rare. last night was one of those nights (thank god) but they do not happen often.

what I think it is, moms irl and on here say that their child sleeps thru the night just so they do not get the judgement. like as if they say no that their child does not sleep thru the night they are a bad parent. I just tell people that she is getting there with sttn.

I try not to worry about other mom's. if they say their baby sleeps thru the night then I ask what they do for that to work and yes I try the tips. that is all.

the day will come for all of us that our little ones will finally sttn.

  • Last night was our best night and he slept for 4.5 hours, although my lovely husband got up with him, so I got to sleep through the night for the first time in, oh 6 months or so. (I was up 2-3 times a night from 5 months pregnant on)

I like pook's theory of the regression.

  • I totally understand where you are coming from. It seems like everyone I see says, "He's so cute. Is he sleeping through the night?" Of course he isn't! He's 6 weeks old. But it also seems like everyone else's baby is sttn. Yesterday I came to the conclusion that I don't mind getting up every 4 hours and I should stop feeling pressured to make him sleep through the night. He will sttn when he is good and ready.

  • My boys eat every 4 hours, round the clock. Needless to say, they don't STTN yet. And if one wakes earlier than the other, he wakes his brother. Nothing like waking up in the wee hours of the morning to a chorus of fussing babies!

  • mine CAN sleep for 3-6 hours at a time. but she doesn't do it at night. we're up every 2-3 hours, tyvm

Yep. Not sure why it works that way but it does.

I was back in my regular clothes almost immediately but they're a 20W. Who is jealous?

And absolutely no STTN. Although I do have a DH willing to split shifts with me.

  • DS sleeps about 4-5 hours at night but he also was jaundiced when he was born.  I read somewhere that babies that spent time under the lights also tend to sleep just a little bit longer...I'm not sure how long it lasts but that could certainly be a contributing factor.

As for the weight loss, I've now lost 30 lbs.  That puts me at a weight of 193...still jealous :)  Lol!  And I have to fit into a bridesmaid dress next summer!  Oh boy... lol

Most of my friends (IRL) kids still wake up at least once during the night, and they are all over a year old.

Same here-I was a size 12 before I got pregnant-I only gained 12 pounds, that I've already lost, but the point is, I'm still a size 12. I totally agree-I too hope to be a size 8 one day. A few of my friends that were pregnant at the same time I was have said "you look sooo good for having a baby so recently"....yeah, well, that's because I am at my pre-pregnancy weight....they aren't quite yet but they are all still smaller than me and always will be. Blah. They're all upset they don't look good in their bikini's....I've never even worn a bikini.

And also-my baby doesn't STTN. I'm lucky if he sleeps for a 5 hour stretch.

  • DS2 is sleeping through the night technically, but I'm certainly not.  We cosleep and he eats without actually waking up.

DS1 did the same thing until he was 12ish months, but I eventually was able to sleep through him nursing.  He's been sick this week and has been waking up crying multiple times overnight.

And being back to prepreg weight?  Ha!  I haven't lost a pound since about 2 weeks postpartum.  Sad
