April 2011 Moms

did your LO have a reaction to their 2 mo vax?

I'm a May mama turned April mama. My daughter had her 2 mo appt today. Since having her three vax (well, four if you count the cp) she's been excessively fussy & irritable.

I know this isn't a "bad reaction" but I was wondering if I was the only one?

Re: did your LO have a reaction to their 2 mo vax?

  • DS had his yesterday morning (8 total vaccines - 5 shots and one oral) and he slept all day.  He did cry more than normal, and his cries were more intense.  however, he only slept for a few hours the night before - so I don't know if it was the vaccines or the lack of sleep.  I've been giving him a little baby tylenol and it does seem to help.

  • Yep, she was cranky all the rest of that day and the next. I gave her Tylenol the first day and that helped (I think she was sore, the injection site seemed swollen a bit to me). But she just wasn't happy for a little stretch there.

She was back to her usual self two days later.

  • my lil man got his vax yesterday. he slept more throughout the day, and when he did cry, it was louder than usual. slept better throughout the day, and he seems fine today. but we'll see how the rest of the week goes.

No - he was just a little more sleepy that day than he usually is.  No fever or anything.

  • He cried for 2 hours that night and then went to bed. The next morning he was himself. No fever, swelling or anything like that.

  • Mine screamed bloody murder while she got them today, but afterwards was very calm. She's been sleeping since 2:00 which isn't totally out of the ordinary. She's been relatively normal thus far! No fussiness or anything. She nursed the same normal amount before her nap as well. I even got a trip to Costco in before taking her home from the doctor! I'll update tonight after she wakes up. Might be a totally different story.

  • Fever got to 100.4-had to take him back to the doc to be checked and he had redness and swelling due to the injections.  Lasted 1 day

  • My LO didn't really cry or anything once we got home, but she was clingy all night. She didn't seem like herself for about two days. She ran a low-grade fever the first night (99.8) so I gave her Tylenol. The next day, she just laid around and wanted to be held. By the 3rd day she was back to her normal, happy self.

My DD slept more that afternoon when we got back from the pedis office and near the end of her nap she woke up screaming. I gave her some Tylenol and she seemed fine after that.

  • We had ours on Monday afternoon. He's still running a low fever and is very fussy. There has been lots of screaming in this house. He also seems to have an upset stomach. He's spitting up/vomiting more than usual and his poops have been a little more liquidy. I have been giving him Tylenol and it seems to make him feel a lot better. He's also sleeping a lot more. I hope he is feeling better soon.

  • She cried for about an hour straight when she woke up at home, but then she slept the whole day, only waking to nurse. She wanted to be held the whole next day and would whimper if I put her down and she spit up more than usual. I think she just felt a little out of sorts. She's totally fine now though, no bad reaction.

  • Emma had hers on Monday.  During the evening she was definitely crying and whimpering more than normal and I gave her baby tylenol and she fell asleep much earlier than she normally does.  Then next day she was crying from pain and again I gave her some tylenol.   She slept more then normal and Tuesday and wasn't eating like she normal did until later in the day on Tuesday.  Today, Wednesday, she has been her normal self.

  • Violet had her's a couple weeks ago now & the Tylenol helped for awhile but when it wore off - she was super fussy. We think her legs were a little sore. Nursing her often seemed to soothe her (she was not digging the bottle the one time my mom tried when I ran an errand) and some extra TLC did the trick. Thankfully, no fever. She slept for a very long time overnight - like 9 hours, which is rare for her. I just think it really wears them out...especially if they cry so much afterwards. The next day she was still sleepy & I snuggled with her as much as I could.
