Husband can't find work after college graduation

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for my husband. He graudated from Thomas More College with a degree in Sociology in May and is having a hard time finding work. Any help would be appreciated, since I go on maternity leave soon.

Thanks,

  • What type of job does he want?  What did he desire to do after receiving a Sociology degree?

I worked through a temp service when I was in college.  Most of my jobs were secretarial and paid more than a retail or food job.

Daves_sweetpea gave a good idea about a temp agency.  I applied through one after grad school because jobs were hard to find (or at least decent ones) and I got a lot of good leads from them.  Also a good way to get a foot in the door and build a resume with some skills.

  • The problem with a field like sociology is that you pretty much have to go to grad school in order to do anything really interesting or have any chance at getting paid relatively well. I have a BA in psych, which is only slightly less meaningless than a BA in sociology. I'm not saying that to bash sociology, that's actually what my MA is in and what my eventual PhD will be in.

What kind of job was he hoping to find? What does he want to do? Sociology isn't really a field you pick randomly, there has to be some reason he went in that direction to begin with.
