Rolling all over the crib?

We stopped swaddling Brynn two nights ago. She's done pretty well without the swaddle considering we pretty much went cold turkey. I've noticed the past two nights that she is ALL.OVER. the crib. I lay her down and she slides to one end of the crib and turn 90 degrees, she'll flip flop all over. I've been in her room several times each night to reposition her so that he feet are between the slats or her face isn't smooshed agains the slats, ect.

Do you let your LO just sleep however or do you go in a reposition them? We have bumpers, but took them off bc of SIDS and now that she's a bit older (4.5 mths) I'm thinking that maybe we'll put them back on.

Oh and unrelated, but whats with all the grunting? I swear she was wide away grunting in her crib for 30 minutes this morning! She's still a happy girl and doesn't look like she's in pain. I think she might have just found a new noise she can make, haha.

Re: Rolling all over the crib?

  • We used breathable bumpers to help contain arms, legs and all.  DD still needs them since she goes from one end of the crib to the other at night.  I liked them better too since I didn't have to worry about the SIDS risk but they help keep her from getting stuck in the slats of the crib.

  • I have just let DD do whatever she wants as far as positioning herself.  She is all over the place.  We put the bumpers on when she was about 4 months (she 6 and a 1/2 now).  Now she can stick her hands and feet above and below them.  Not sure how much cushioning they're really providing, but she is a real wiggle worm these days.  No problems with her sticking her face in them or anything though. HTH.

As for the grunting, she loves to make this sound too.  She used to do it all the time.  Lately it has turned into a sound she makes only when she "talks" to her grandpa.  Too cute.

  • Henry is 2 and still sticks limbs all over the place (and yes he is still in the crib)  When Serena moves into the crib here in a few months (HA!  What am I thinking moving a toddler into a bed and infant into a crib simultaneously!) I will probably get the breathable bumper jobbies mentioned above.  Henry at 2 doesn't get upset about sticking his legs and arms through but when he was younger he would get very upset.
