just made an awesome easy summer dessert

I made a blueberry galette for dessert tonight. Took about 10 minutes and it was DEVINE. You should make it.

Mix 2 cups blueberries, 2 T sugar, juice and zest of one lemon, a dash of ground cinnamon and a splash of vanilla extract.

Pour it in the middle of a cheater premade refridgerated pie crust and curl the edges up so that it makes a little round tart and so you can see the blueberry magic on the inside. If you're feeling dangerous, add a couple small pats of butter on top o' the berries. Brush the crust with a beaten egg.

400*, 15 minutes.

Seriously. Go make it. EASY and makes you look like a summer baking goddess!

  • Think it would work and taste good if I used frozen strawberries and blueberries mixed together?

I have bags of frozen starwberries and blueberries from last years pickings and I want to use them before I fill my freezer up again with what the extra I pick this year.

When I use frozen berries in pies, I usually mix with a little cornstarch so they don't end up super runny.  Other than that, it should work and taste delish I would think :)

You could probably do it with strawberries and blueberries, but I'd be worried the crust would get too mushy on the bottom.

(Also, I had the leftovers today, cold and cut into little wedges topped with sweetened whipped cream. OMG.)
