He arrived yesterdy at 12:56 pm via c-section and is absolutely perfect and came right down to the nursery with us. The hour before the c-section was complete hell. The doctor did an ultrasound to check the blood vessels due to the vasa previa. She said she wasn't concerned so much about baby and his blood loss but was worried as the placenta was lying low on right side and I also had exposed vessels and she was worried about my blood loss, possibility of having to have to insert a balloon into the uterus or the possibility of having to lose the uterus. Upon finding the vasa previ the concern had been about the baby's blood loss and nobody talked about these concerns so a little overwhelming to hear right before surgery. Needless to say I got emotional. Then they decided that even though I've had a saline lock/IV access in for the past 2 weeks (I look like a heroin addict) they wanted a second line. They finally got one in after 4 different attempts and literally jamming needles into my arms/hands, with me baawling of course. Poor DH didn't know what to do except ask the nurses if there wasn't another alternative. Once I got through all of that, the spinal and c/s were a piece of cake. Fortunately all went well and baby is doing everything he needs to do despite being a little early. I lost a little more blood than is normal but not enough to need a transfusion. It was all worth it in the end. DH has been adament that we are 1 then done. After yesterday, I'm feeling more agreeable to that :-) Thanks to everyone who has responded to my posts throughout these past months and i look forward to hearing everbody else's stories.
