Success after IF

When did your babies bathe in the big bathtub?

When did you put your babies in the regular bathtub and stop using the infant tub?  I still have to get one of those no slip mats to put in the tub.  Is there anything else that I should get for the transition?

Thanks!

Once he could sit up  really well we started using a bath ring. We got rid of that at about 12 months and has since just bathed in the normal tub.

  • At 5 months when he started sitting we started using a bath seat like this one. We stopped using the seat when he was 8/9 months old and able to crawl around the tub. We use the non slip bath mat in the tub, especially now that he is standing/walking.

We didn't switch until Will was just over 10 months old. But we had a big infant tub, so that worked. He definitely could have switched sooner, but washing him while he was lying down was just easier so we were slow to switch!
  • I put my boys in the big tub last night for the first time (just after 7 months).  They did great!  They are very strong sitters, so I knew they would be fine.

  • We had the whale tub and we LOVED it.

When they started sitting really well at 7 months, we started bathing them together.  They LOVED it!

  • We had a big infant tub. We stopped using the newborn lounger around 5/6 months, then used just the baby tub till about 10 months when she was trying to climb out of it. We bought a shower mat and she loves her big bath tub now :)

  • Around 6ish months or so when she could sit up really well. She loves it.

Of course, now she tries to crawl back and forth in the tub, and tried to stand up the other day.

  • I don't remember the exact age but it was when he could really sit up well.  He just kept trying to sit up in the baby tub in the sink...it was a mess!  We actually got a blow-up duck tub (from Target) and used that for the first few months in the big tub.  It helped keep him steady and was all the room he needed then.  Once he got too long/active for that he went into the full-on big bathtub.

  • Ok, I guess I'm resistant to change. 18 months and we're still using the blow up duck tub.

With DS, after 1 year we moved from the baby tub to just the kitchen sink (in my defense, I was very pregnant and had no desire to kneel down and chase him around the big bathtub).  He moved in to the big tub shortly after DD was born...so maybe 16 months?

With DD, she was in the infant tub until 12 months, and just recently started taking baths with her brother in the big tub.  They love it but it is quite challenging for me!

  • We used a bath sponge in the big bathtub from newborn to about 10 months (when she didn't sit on it any more).
