In the hospital with my baby boy

this past weekend all the way up to today has been a blur of hospital stays for myself and my baby boy Blake, It all started Saturday when my husband, myslef , and Blake came home from visiting family. My temp was 104 and blakes was 100.5 so off to the ER i went with my mom and off to levines children ER Blake went with my husband. I was admitted until monday at 5pm.

The end result for me was that I had such a bad virus that it got to my brain and caused inflammation and fluid to form. The did a spinal tap to rule out menningitis and it was negative thank god. Im on all kinds of meds right now for the pain and to steriods to get rid of the infammation on my brain.

Now blake left the ER on saturday and all they did for him was blood work. We got a call on Monday while I was being discharged to let us know that his blood cultures came back positive for a blood infection. So we rushed back into the ER dept at levines and they repeated the blood culture as well as did a spinal tap on him (not as bad as I thought it was going to be, actually he slept thru most of it)

We were admitted last night to the hospital and will be here for a few days while they give him his rounds of antibiotics, so far all the cultures look as if nothing is growing yet but were not completly out of the woods yet. He is very congested and is having to be suctioned so he can breath. He is coughing and wheezing and now he is vomitting sooo bad that they switched him to pedilite instead of formula for awhile.

I hope he starts doing better soon its breaking my heart and he just wants to be held and snuggled all the time here day and night....i can tell he is feeling so bad. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry and thinking of you and Blake. Dee was born with a blood infection and also had a spinal tap - luckily it wasn't meningitis. I know how hard it is to see your LO hooked up to an IV to get antibiotics but the good news is he is in great hands and your cultures are looking good. Hugs and prayers your way.

Blake is doing soooo much better this morning and they are even talking about letting us go home this afternoon!!! yay! couldnt be more happy. Thank you God! and thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers!
