Just wondering if anyone here is going that route? I know some are fostering, but I wasn't sure if they are planning to adopt. I am thinking this might be the next logical step in our journey to grow our family. I would love to have someone to chat with about the process, should we decide to go for it.
I am contemplating a change in employment that will be a windfall for our family, but will make it impossible for us to get pg for awhile. FMLA requires 12 months employment to hold your job. With my age factored in, we might be out of time to TTC our own. BUT, we want more children. Exploring all options.
Re: Foster to Adopt?
And a friend who is doing foster-to-adopt (daughter recently adopted, still fostering son) in Kentucky.
One of my co-workers / friends is also doing private adoption (out of state, Kentucky -> Michigan) after spending literally years researching their options. They just started the process.
If you'd like to speak with any of them, I'm sure they'd all be happy to give you what info they have & share their experiences.
I am...We actually get to start the adoption process next month. I can give you more details in PM (FB or here) or email.
We started out with the Foster Care training this time last year, got LO just after Thanksgiving and now we are putting in our paperwork with our first courtdate in July.

Looks like you have a few good contacts but if you need more insight my best friend is a foster parent in Indiana. She is new to the system and went in with the thought to foster and help out kids and if the "right" kid came along they would consider adopting. They are unable to have children of their own but do want kids. They have 3 foster kids right now and they have been there for about 5 months and will probably be there for quite a few more. It is tough the things she deals with but from my understanding you have control over (as long as you stick to your guns) of what kindsof kids you will accept as far as age/gender/situation/ etc.
Good Luck and mad props to you. I hope this journey fills your heart. Other would definitly benefit from you
