9 oz freezer bags and deep freezer?

Does any company make a good 9oz freezer bags?  I have those 5oz medela ones and right now they have taken over my freezer.  I have barely been able to store anything due to lack of room but then all my bottles were full so it's been a nightmare.  I know I shouldn't complain about having a good milk supply but it's hard when there's no space to put anything else.  Not to mention the fact that I'd rather fill a bag with what I'll need rather than try to defrost multiple bags.

I hope someone makes a good one because BBQ season is here and I'd like to be able to buy more than 1 steak at a time.

Also since we're looking at freezers which do you prefer stand or chest?  This will be for milk storage as well as regular use.

Re: 9 oz freezer bags and deep freezer?

  • I have been using the 6oz Lansinoh bags.  Never seen a 9oz.  I have a chest freezer and just bought another yesterday.  I think that a stand up freezer would be easier for rotation since you will be using it for other food too but (I believe) that a chest freezer keeps it colder therefore making it last longer.  If you wanna see, I posted a pic in a previous post today of my 3 month stash, so that you can get an idea of how I organize them.  I use the cut boxes that you can buy soda in (I take them from my office.....no I don't drink soda. :).  Then when I have one filled, I tie string around it to make a handle of sorts so that lifting them out is easier.  I hope this helps some.  Oh yeah, lay them flat to freeze so that they stack easier.

You can easily put 9-11 oz in the Lansinoh bags and still store it flat and have it not leak.  I have also heard of ladies freezing their milk in just a ziploc bag.
