TTC After a Loss

When do you check for CM?

I have yet to add this aspect to our TTC process.  I'm thinking of trying it this time around ~ a few questions:

What CD do you start checking it?

What time of day do you check it?

Do you avoid checking around certain activities?  (for example, when you are aroused...that wouldn't be a good time to check...or would it?)

Is there anything else I should know?

I'm not sure if this is how you are supposed to do it, but I just look at what's on the toilet paper when I wipe. Every.single.time. DH thinks I'm crazy obsessed.

  • I start checking around CD12 or so. I'll check maybe twice a day when I go to the restroom. I rarely ever find any on my tp so I have to go digging for it Embarrassed. Tip: Trim your nails if this is the route you choose to take!

  • EWCM is the only CM you need to pay attention to for the purpose of baby making... mine just comes out... i dont have to search for it like some do... so that helps... the day or two before O is when i get EWCM...

I started charting half way through this cycle, so I just check it everyday. First thing in the morning after I temp, and I usually check it after a BM (sorry if that's TMI Smile It's been working pretty well for me. Hope that helps!
  • I always check it before I go to the bathroom... that is unless i'm doing the dance and can't hold it before I can check. That happens a lot.

I'm still having a difficult time determining what is what and that's the reason why I leave it blank a lot on FF.

I don't check it for at least 3 pees after having sex. Because I can't tell the difference between sperm and cm.

  • I check every day unless I have a visit from AF. Some days I check more than once depending on what CD I am one. I'm one of those ladies that  have to go digging for it.

  • What CD do you start checking it? I start checking around CD8 or 9. Usually a few days after the end of AF.

What time of day do you check it? I check when I go to the bathroom. I always wear cotton undies, but starting around CD8 I start wearing black undies. It's easier to see the type/opacity of CM on black fabric. I also check when I wipe around CD12 and beyond, when I start having more of it. Once I start to "dry up" around O, I stop checking.

Do you avoid checking around certain activities?  (for example, when you are aroused...that wouldn't be a good time to check...or would it?) I don't check when aroused because arousal fluid can throw me off and be confusing. I also don't bother checking the morning after sex, because it's likely semen. Once I start seeing my watery CM start to get thicker and more eggwhite-like, I just periodically check that it's still there, and know to get it on.

Is there anything else I should know?  Take my advice with a grain of salt. I was only on my 2nd cycle with good timing when we conceived (blighted ovum). But obviously it worked.

  • I usually start checking after my period/any spotting after my period stops.  I usually check in the morning and in the afternoon.  If I am close to Oing, then I may check it more than that.  Also, you may get different types of CM throughout the day, so it is best to record the most fertile, according to TCOYF.

  • What CD do you start checking it?  I usually start checking a day or so after AF leaves...I'll prob. start tomorrow sometime as we BD this afternoon and I'm not good at the difference between CM and semen.   I usually keep checking it even after O if I remember, but not as frequently just to see what my body does (what is normal, etc.)

What time of day do you check it? I check it a few times a day to see what happens.. most times I pee unless I can see it on TP.  I then try to remember what my most fertile type is.

Do you avoid checking around certain activities? I try to not check right before or after BD'ing.

  • I start checking around CD10. I'll check 2-3 times a day when I am heading into O. I also check CP so usually it's an internal check. One of the best times to check is after a BM it does seem to move the CM downEmbarrassedgross I know. After sex I normally wait to check till the next day. Good luck. I learned a ton about my body and cycles by doing this. I felt like it gave me some control back.

  • Evey time I shower in the evening I check.  I do the internal finger swipe to get it right from the source.  You can really tell the difference in when it starts to change if you do it everyday.  In my last cycle when I got pregnant I was documenting what I saw for my entire cycle.  Hopefully that will help me realize when we are going to ovulate when we start TTC again.
