It was nice to get out of the house but I was so nervous bringing her out, I just worry so much! I have taken her outside a few times for fresh air but I am always concerned with bugs and the sun....we live in NY and its been pretty dam hot!! I know I am being a little much but I just cant help it...anyone else???
Re: First Time Moms..when did you take your LO out for the 1st time?
We took LO out within a couple days of being home once I was feeling up to it. It really wasn't that bad. He loves his car seat and sleeps for the most part of our outtings. LO isn't even 3 weeks old and we've been to Target, Walmart, Fry's (Grocery store) and out to 2 different restaurants. I just have one rule, I will kill anyone who tries to come near him. I normally keep a blanket over his car seat when we're out so that people don't see how "new" he is and want to come breathe on him and gawk.
If you have your diaper bag stocked and ready its relatively easy to leave the house. I just throw a bottle of BM in the bag and a blanket before we leave, put the baby in his car seat and we're out the door.
ETA : BTW we live in AZ so since LO has been born its been anywhere from the 90's to 100's you just have to keep them in light clothing.
My LO is 13 days old tody and we've only been to the doctors and to the mall. I'm scared to take him out but i can't sit in the house much more! I think we/re going to try to go to costco in about an hour!

We have gone out A LOT! At 1 week, he went to my parents house. At 2 weeks, we went to a restaurant, lots of doctors (my OB, his pedi, and my chiropractor), and Target. At 3 weeks, Greekfest and St. Louis Cardinals Game. At 4 weeks, the Zoo.
We go on a lot of walks in the stroller too!

We went out for the first time when he was 3 days old. We have been out a lot since then. He goes everywhere, I am not paranoid about germs at all.
I've never been overly concerned with germs. We had her out every day after the hospital because of blood testing (jaundice). We took her out to eat on a few of those days. She goes everywhere with me. DH works out of town a lot. Yesterday, we went to Target, Lowes, Hobby Lobby and the grocery. At 6 weeks, we took her to a festival. The A&A blankets are awesome. You can cover the seat without it getting too hot.
She has had a cold already, but I'm 99% sure she got it from DH.

We started going out right away. We were at a party and church at 6 days. I go out all the time - both just out for walks and out to groups (mom's group, church) and shopping.
I'd be insane after 6 weeks in my house.

On the way home from the hospital...lol...
We went to visit his cousin who is 2 wks older, went to dinner, and went to see family. Then to doctors...mine, daddy's and his. He was out shopping with us the week we brought him home. He's been pretty much every where with us. We make sure to keep a loaded diaper bag with extra outfits, diapers and formula just in case he needs anything or we stay out longer than planned. We also ALWAYS carry antibacterial cream/lotion everywhere (car, diaper bag, purse, etc.) for when we run into anyone who wants to carry him. We're pretty good with making sure he is in a clean environment. As far as taking him out in the sun goes...we also make sure that he's shaded, we have the bug net thingy, and that he's comfy. And he loves being outside and people dont scare him since he's so used to being around ppl. So far, so good!
