My cousin wants to buy my aunt an ereader. My aunt is very behind as far as far as technology... No computer and a track phone do you think the kindle or nook would be better for her? Less bells and whistles the better.
i don't have either, so take this with a grain of salt. having looked at both of them, i'd think the kindle would be better, because it has the reflected light screen technology that really does look like a book page and is easy to read anywhere. it's almost hard to believe it's a computer screen.

The nook has the same eink. Only the nook color has the LED back lit screen.

That said, the kindle is definitely less fancy.
ahh...i guess i've only seen the nook color. thanks for the info.
I absolutely love my Nook color. I decided to get that instead of the Kindle because it can read to M while we are driving and he sees the book in color. As far as getting one that is simple I would say go with the Kindle, especially if she is not up on the tech world. I'm sure someone will have to help her use it at first, but I think that will be the best option, IMO.

I like that my Kindle doesn't have a bunch of other features. I wanted a great e-reader and that's what I got. I already have a laptop, iPhone, etc.
FWIW, my eyes get less tired reading my Kindle than when I read regular books.
