So, at my 20 wk ultrasound, my tech very nonchalantly asks if I know that I have fibroids. ....I did not. I asked her if it was something to worry about, she said no, it's pretty common.
I decided to look this up on google...big mistake! I saw words like hemmorage, stillbirth and cancer...and thought I was going to faint. So, I stopped reading and am going to ask my Dr. about it on Friday. I figure if it was a major concern the Dr. would have called me already...
Anyone else have fibroids? Any advice?
Thank you!
Re: Fibroids during pregnancy
Make a pregnancy ticker
I have fibroids. I had two removed in 2009, and I've had two seen on u/s since then. The troublemakers I had out in 2009 were causing unexplained bleeding (at one point I was bleeding for 3 frickin months straight...ranged from spotting to so heavy it made me anemic).
Step away from Dr. Google on this one! Lots of women have fibroids, I believe the figure is something like 50% of women of childbearing age. Most never even know they have them. The fibroids you saw on Google were probably the huge ones. Chances are the ones you have are little in comparison, mine are <1 inch for example. Most of the time they don't cause problems in pregnancy.
Definitely talk to your doctor. I have a feeling it will put your mind at ease, plus its good to make sure he's aware the tech saw them.
