We're planning to switch DD from a toddler bed to a twin bed soon, but I'm curious how you navigate the bed rail if you read to your kid at night? Do you just sit in a chair beside the bed? Or do you get a hideaway rail, and just put it up after stories are done? I'm wondering if that would jostle her enough to keep her from falling asleep (it's nice if she's close to sleep when I leave the room). Help!
Re: For a twin bed with bed rail, how do you sit & read to your kid?
Depends....sometimes we will just climb in bed with her and other times we put the rail away (hideaway) and kneel next to the bed as we read.

Usually in the glider.
But... I climb in and out of their beds to snuggle before sleep all the time.
I enter from the bottom instead of the side. (picture bed with 1 rail up and the other side of the bed flush to the wall).
They're not asleep when I'm climbing out tho. Not sure how that would work.
