Hi Ladies,
My transfer is set for 9am tomorrow. They only got 2 eggs this time and as of a few minutes ago, one is compacting into a blast and the other is "greater than 8 cells." Both are grade 4.
The question I have is how many to transfer. We transferred 2 blasts for IVF#1 and got Bradley and Billy. We transferred 1 fully hatched blast for IVF#2 and got a BFN. I'm not sure what to do now with IVF#3.
I'm terrified of a twin pregnancy, knowing what can go wrong, but that being said, the OBs we consulted with after our loss are split on why the loss happened. 2 think it had to do with multiples and 2 think it had to do with a placental infection from a sub chorionic hematoma that brought on the rupture and labor. The Dr's who think the loss had to do with an infection believe that because I had to be induced for 36 hours with Pitocin and Cytotec to dilate. The other doctors think the loss had to do with multiples since I was having contractions after my water broke and those contractions brought me to 2 cm dilated.
We really want a BFP. I'm so sick and tired of not being pregnant and dealing with IVF and IF month after month but I'm also scared of twins, but would also love to have them!
DH and I are thinking that if they're not going to freeze the second embryo tomorrow, we'd transfer it to give it a chance. Is that being too risky?
Re: WWYD re: # to transfer?
you have the make the decision that you will feel comfortable with.
if the 2nd embie wasn't going to freeze i would most likely transfer both of them.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

That is such a tough decision given what you have been through.
Here is Shady Grove's data on success of 1 vs 2 transferred. Maybe it will help with your decision.
Oh so hard, with ur history. What does ur RE say about a poss twin preg again? Would they suggest reducing? Would you be open to that (please don't feel like you have to answer), just giving you something to consider.
HUGE HUGS and good luck.
(((hugs)))
I am sorry you are faced with such a tough decision, especially with your history.
I would definitely research the stats that PP posted, but I personally would transfer both. We haven't done IVF, but during our consult, we and the RE pretty much agreed on 2.
I hope you guys can come to a decision soon and I hope that decision brings you your sticky BFP! GL!

So sorry sweetie - that is such a tough choice. I think* I would transfer both. I am also scared to death of twins but like you my doctors are very split on what went wrong and if twins would be terrible if it happened again.
I hope you and DH can come to a decision you feel at peace with. huge ((hugs))

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
oh Jackie, what a decision to have to make. i anticipate being in the same situation. we dont know which came first, the PTL or chorio so verdict is out on the chances of it repeating. its scary but it seems likewhich ever way you choose, the option has been well thought out.as long as you are emotionally ready for twins and they wont freeze just one, id go for both.
good luck hun ::hugs::
