I need wording advice...
I am co-hosting a baby shower when I come home in a couple of weeks. My duty is the invites. We are doing a Babies, Books and Brunch theme. Since this is the Mother to be's 2nd baby, and 2nd boy, there isn't much she needs in terms of baby gear. So, we thought it would be great to help build their library.
How do I word that, without making it sound like the Mother-to-be is looking for gifts (she doesn't even know about the shower, and is the awesome type of person who would be just tickled that people came to the shower)?
Re: Baby shower invite
There are several little poem things here:
https://www.babyshower101.com/baby_shower_invitations_3.html
My SIL just threw me a shower with the same theme! The invitation said:
"Cards and notes will be tucked away. Bring your wishes in a children's book for (mom's name) to read day after day."
Very cute!
This what was done for my shower:
We can't wait to see you at the shower
when Amy will be the woman of the hour
we have one request we hope is not too hard
Please sign your name to a book instead of a card
Then Amy & Bret will be ready when Alivia arrives
to read to their darling for the rest of their lives.
I think if you refer to it as a "sprinkle" instead of a shower, that also sends the message that it's not a big gift-giving extravaganza.
I agree... How about:
We can't wait to see you at the shower
when {name} will be the woman of the hour..
Since baby 2 already has lots of stuff, (or Since Baby 2 can reuse lots of {baby 1's name} stuff...)we have one request we hope isn't too tough...So instead of a gift for Baby and mother, Please give a child's book with your thoughts in the cover. Then {names} will be ready when {baby} arrivesto read to their darling for the rest of their lives.
