Babies on the Brain

My dad is changing jobs

Not an easy think to do at 56 years old but he is doing it.

He will get the official offer tomorrow but he was told today that he could give his notice at his other job.

He is currently a manager and the company takes so much advantage of him, it's ridiculous. He works long days, gets no compensation for it, he is on call 24/7 and they call him for every little reason. And it's pretty physical labor.

At one point he was working so much that he would sleep in his truck for a couple of hours in the parking lot and then get back to work. It's not good for him. He is never home, can never make plans and even when he does he has to back out all the time.

I am so happy for him. He will be 5 on and 4 off. It's great. And when he leaves work, he will actually be able to leave physically and mentally.

He's a hard worker and deserves this.

I just really hope he can stand his ground when he quits cause the big boss is a sweet talker and I know he will promise my dad the moon (but won't deliver-as always)

  • Mt dad "retired" at 58, did some relate consulting work for a few years, then surprised us all when he became a Paramedic at 64. He loves it and I couldn't be more proud of him!

  • Rock on! I hope his new job is totally awesome and that he tells his old boss to suck it.

Except, you know, in a totally professional manner.

  • Sorry, should have also added a big congrats to your dad! That's exciting for him to finally be able to be happy at work. I hope Big Boss doesn't talk him down!
