xp from baby gear: not a diaper bag but could it work?

I am trying to find the perfect diaper bag and I know I want a backpack type.  It would be awesome if I could get the same one that we ordered for my SIL six years ago but Lands End doesn't make the backpack ones anymore.

I have found the Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack at Walmart.com (where we have a registry started).  Does anyone have experience with this bag?

I also received Pottery Barn Kids catalog in the mail today and noticed a Large Backpack in the Mackenzie Collection that might work.  Do you think that this would work?

I compared dimensions: Sherpa bag is 19x12x7; the Pottery Barn bag is 17x13x7... there are a few other things that are different... Sherpa has a built in insulated section and more outside pockets... Pottery Barn bag has more inside pockets but still has the pockets that could be used for bottles or drinks on the sides...

I don't want to order the Pottery Barn bag because it is more fun and then it doesn't really work for a diaper bag.... what do you all think? Should I go for it knowing that I could personalize it for DD and she can use it for years or get a more generic one that she most likely will not like???

TIA for any thoughts

  • I use a backpack I had when I was a kid. Its the size you get for a pre-schooler. I didn't wanna carry a suitcase so it works perfect! I do keep a second bag in my car that has extra diapers wipes and food.

  • Well, I think the bag designed to be a diaper bag would ultimately function better. And, I think it would look pretty odd for an adult to carry around one of those PBK back packs. They look reeeaaaally young.

That was my first thought...these bags are small for kids, so it will look like you are walking around with a kids backpack on all the time.

Do you think so since it is only 2" shorter than the other bag and actually 1" wider?

It doesnt look silly at all, mine is denim so its not like its a rainbow bright bag. This is what I say who cares what other people think get what works for you!
