Jumperoos, etc

ok way back when i was dilligent about reading up on baby things and being pregnant and registering for gifts i was all ready to get a jumperoo. but we didn't get one as a gift and i've forgotten everything i read and now we're ready to buy one so any one have any great recommendations?

addy will be 4 months next week and has great head control and loves standing up, my only concern is that she is too tiny.  she might be 12 lbs with a full diaper but she's over 24" long.  should that be a worry? i want to buy one soon because we have a 20% off coupon and even if we can't put her in it right exactly today, i'm sure she'll be in it soon.

or should i just get an old school walker? i've seen a handful of them in target and babies r us and think that would help but i'm not sure if i'm ready (or the dog for that matter) for her to be mobile.

Re: Jumperoos, etc

  • I was just researching this today and the Fisher Price jumperoos get great reviews.  I believe I read that walkers are considered unsafe now, but I can't remember for sure.  My DD is short and chunky so she might be big enough but she's not even 3 months so she doesn't quite have the head control yet.  She loves to "stand" though, I can't wait for her to be able to use one of those!

  • K has a walker and a jumper. She loves them both! She is almost 4 months and doesn't even weigh 10 lbs yet but is super long! We put blankets around her when she is in the jumper.

  • That's great your smaller baby can fit!!! And I think the problem with walkers was that people were letting their kids fall down the stairs. We live in a first story apartment so I'm not too concerned for anything except the dog. We might just keep Addy rangled in the dining/kitchen area if we go for the walker

We have the FP Luv U Zoo jumperoo and DS loves it! He is about 16lbs probably between 25 and 26 in but I still put a rolled up receiving blanket behind him and a pillow under his feet so he can reach everything. He has been using his for about 3 weeks now and seriously can spend more and more time in there being entertained every day (which means mommy loves it too Wink)
  • My son LOVED his FP Rainforest Jumperoo and I can't wait for my daughter to use it. It was great for us in every way and I have no complaints. I can't comment on walkers because they're not allowed in Canada (boo).

  • Little man only likes his FP Rainforest jumperoo in small doses for right now but I'm very glad we have it. I put a box under his feet for now :)

  • I have horrible knee problems and I have always joked with my mother that its her fault for leaving me in one of those doorway jumpers as a baby. That being said... DD has an excersaucer and I plan on purchasing her one of those super cute Combi GT walkers. If I had a basement or a 2 level house, I probably wouldn't have a walker (several friends I know up north have had their babies "walk" down the stairs) but since we live in FL in a 1 level home, we will be purchasing one.

  • Thanks for the help ladies. We went to BRU and looked at the Fisher Price ones. They looked really nice but we actually bought a Baby Einstein one. I liked that it had more adjustments for height and you could attach extra toys. We were even able to use a 20% off coupon. Addy instantly loved it. I put pics up on the FB group and wrote a blog if anyone else was wondering about them. https://wp.me/pYLo8-8S. (Sorry its not clicky, I'm on my phone. You can just click my blog button in the siggy too)
