Since we have been doing lots of caryout I need to know what's proper here. We always tip 20% on our bill when we dine in. What do you do when you call in and order and go in to pick it up. What about carside delivery? I told H to tip a few bucks to the carside since they are bringing it out, but I don't think 20% is necessary, right? And I never really know what to do when you go in and get it.
Re: Tipping question
Maybe I'm socially gauche, but I don't tip if I go inside to pick it up.
I think $2 is fine for carside delivery.

This exactly... and usually no more than $2.
It's generally not my money that I'm spending
i don't tip when i order carryout and then go inside to pick it up. DH however disagrees and if he picks up he always leaves a couple bucks.
ive never done the carside service but i would probably leave $2 if i were to.

This. I've never done carside, but I would think $2-3 would be appropriate.
