Got a call from my college roommate...

So my college roommate I haven't seen in about 2 years called me up to let me know she wasn't going to ask me to be part of her wedding because I wasn't "financially stable enough to be a bridesmad".

I haven't seen since not long after graduation, we don't text, the only way we really keep up is from posts on facebook.  She didn't ever even actually tell me she was getting married, I read about it on facebook.  No, we don't have a lot of spare money, but where she got that information, I have no clue.

I don't think she was trying to be rude, and was mostly just wanting to tell me that she DID think of me for her wedding, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense to call someone out of the blue just to tell them you don't make enough money to be a part of their wedding.  Especially someone you're not all that close to in the first place.

I ended up thanking her for the thought, and giving her my mailing address for the invitations (shower and wedding) and chatted for a few minutes before getting off the phone.

People are just funny sometimes.

That get's a side eye from me. She could have at least blamed the baby (cause isn't that what they are for Stick out tongue) and phrased it in a way that a little more considerate and less judgmental like "I know you just had a baby and have your hands full with that, I don't want to add anymore stress to you financially or timewise but wanted you to know I thought of you for my wedding, etc., etc. You're right people are funny sometimes.

  • Um, that's ridiculous. I could elaborate, but I don't think there's much else to say. Just ridiculous for so many reasons.

  • That's really odd...but hey, at least she felt that you were important enough in her life that your feelings would've been hurt if you weren't asked?

  • Yea, I am glad that she did think of me, I honestly didn't expect that at all.   Just wish she would have found a nicer way of letting me know.

Ah well.  I'm looking forward to going to the wedding, like I said, I haven't seen her in ages, and I'm excited to let her meet DD.  She's only 3 months, and yet she's been to almost as many weddings as I have already.  We've got another one (movie themed wedding) this Saturday, one on 4th of July (BIL), and ex-roommates is in October.  Not to mention the one we went to a couple of weeks ago.  And the night (well day there) of Prince William's wedding, she wouldn't sleep, so we watched that one too, lol.
