Does your LO see the dentist regularly?

It's open enrollment and I was thinking of adding my DD to my dental insurance. Yes, I'm a bad Mommy and she's never been to the dentist. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to just pay the dentist cash for cleanings and stuff or add her to the insurance. WDYT?

    I have only taken DS once, but I plan on taking him every 6 months. But his first appt was only $150 so Im not going to be getting insurance for him.

    Baby #4 is Due August 9, 2015.

    I was thinking that I'd be paying more for the whole year of insurance than I would for a couple of appointments.

    My DS hasn't been yet. Our dentist recommends their first appointment 2.5 yrs. to 3 yrs. of age.

    E went at 20 months and then last month and her next appt is in 6 months, so yes. DH's dental insurance is awesome and we could add her at anytime so it wasn't a problem for me. We were already paying for a family plan with me and DH so it wasn't any more cost wise to add her. At her age I am more interested in her getting comfortable with the dentist and not being afraid.

    DS is on my dental insurance. The cleaning is expensive around here if you don't have insurance. DS went to the dentist at 17 months after he chipped his tooth. He went back at 2 and will be heading for his third app't in August.

    I took my DD to her first dentist visit in May and she loved it so much that she keeps asking to go again.  She's a weirdo, but in a good way I guess.  I'm not sure how the prices of individual cleanings 2xyear compare with your yearly cost, but you may want to factor in the possibility of falling and chipping teeth, like a PP mentioned.  I'd rather have my kids in a dental plan than not, just in case.  Plus, then there is no reason to procrastinate about visits, since they are covered.  None of the "o, we don't have the extra money right now".  It's just easier for me to work our budget that way.
