Group B Strep test

Anyone also get checked for dilation when they got their Group B Strep test? I have mine tomorrow and am kinda hoping my OB checks, even though I know it really means nothing. With DS, I was dilated to almost 4 cm for almost three weeks before being induced. I guess I am just at that point where I need to feel like this whole thing is getting somewhere. I realize I can always ask my OB, although I am torn about that too. Just curious what others experienced.

My ob had me do it in the bathroom (swab myself) after peeing in a cup. I didn't get checked until 38w, and it was uncomfortable because I was still high & only 1cm. Not looking forward to tomorrow's check.

My doctor doesn't do internals until 38 weeks, so I will have my first one tomorrow. He does GBS at 36.

I had my Group B Strep Test today and they checked to see if I was dialated. I think it's standard to do the Strep test at 35 weeks and to start checking to see if you're dialated.

I'm not dialated at all yet. I know I shouldn't wish for my baby to come early but I'm very ready to be done with my pregnancy.

I had it done this morning, she asked me if I wanted to be checked or not. I told her I wasn't concerned but that the grandmas were anxious so she checked. I am 2 cm 60% effaced. DH finds that "nerve wracking" lol so it did do some good for me to find out, he needs to get moving on some things around here. :)GL. The midwife said she thinks signs are pointing to the baby boy being here before due date.

I had the option of being checked when my doctor did the Group B strep test. I opted not to be checked because I knew my she wouldn't be able to predict when Baby will arrive and I'm a worrier. I knew I would over-analyze any information I got from being checked. My doctor said that was fine and that I can get checked at my 37 or 38 week appt. if I want to.

I had my GBS done today, and normally she would have checked me. But since I was just checked Friday night at the hospital (not even a cm dilated) she gave me the option. Of course I'm curious, but she said it's really not going to change how things will be done. So I opted not to since my cervix is retarded and bleeds really easily. I just didn't feel like having to wear a pad again. I think it mainly depends on your doc.

i have an exam tomorrow. since i have GD, they are checking for size, strep test, and im pretty sure we will check for dilation too. if not, ill prob ask him to, since he's already down there we might as well check it!!

With DD I was never checked. I asked not to be since you can walk around for weeks at 3-4cm. I ended up having my water break at 38wks and was still "fingertip". My current OB checks and I was 1cm at 36wks. I preferred not to be, but that's his practice. I just don't think it is all that necessary.

I had my test done last Tuesday and I thought that she was going to check me because I had been having cramping, and she said if I ever was then she was going to. Nope. She just seemed to brush it off like it was no big deal.

Nope. Got my GBS test last week at 35 weeks, just a super quick swab and that was it. OB won't be starting internals til 38 weeks.

I got my test done & got checked at 36 weeks. But he really wanted to check me because I was in L&D a few days before that having BH every 3-4 minutes non-stop. So I'm not sure if he would have checked me then if I wasn't have the BH.

No internal for me when he swabbed for GBS at 36 wks. I've turned down the subsequent offer and plan to do the same until I hit 40 wks or go in for induction. i just don't want to be disappointed when they tell me I'm not effaced/dilated at all. I haven't been feeling many contractions at all which makes me think that my cervix is doing nothing at all! I choose to remain blissfully ignorant about the state of my cervix at this point.

I got sent into the bathroom with the swab to do my own swabbing for the GBS test. I'm a nurse so it wasn't really a big deal to me, I know how to do it properly and it made me happy that she didnt have to see my crotch (I've had no internals yet).

So no internal checks for me yet.

My doctor had me do the swab myself at 35 weeks. I haven't had an internal yet - since I have a scheduled induction next week, I may go the entire pregnancy without one (obviously excluding labor!)

I have my 36 week appt tomorrow and I am having the Group B Strep Test done. I will be asking my MW to check to see if I am dilated as well as leaking Amniotic Fluid.
