Success after IF

So after last night's diseaster,

I go to my Mom's with Ava (she lives near Nicholas' camp and my sister was going to color my hair there).  And she brings up the trip we are all taking to NY next month.  The one I'd rather stick lit matches in my eyes than go.  We are only going for a week- or so I thought.   My mom says (after I got no sleep last night, so I'm not in the best mood) "What do you think about not working on the 25th (I work as an ON Call Admin for a finanical company.  I fill in as needed to cover vacations and whatnot.  Kind of like a subsitute teacher.  So I don't work steadily.  Only when I'm called).  So I already commited to working for this girl on the 25th.  I'm not scheduled to work again til mid Sept.   No work=no money, so I have to say yes when I get asked.

So I roll my eyes and say "Why?! I HAVE TO WORK".   So she says "Well I just thought we could have  the family over to meet Ava".   We did this for Nicholas and my family (Aunts and Uncles and cousins) came from Upstate NY down to LI.   So then I say "Well then when would we go back home?"   She says "That Wednesday or Thursday"  Ugh- so that means we'd be there for 2 weeks.    This day just gets better and better.   I don't want to be there for one week, let alone 2.

Just not a happy camper right now.  Plus if I decide to stay in NY (if I get outvoted and DH wants to stay too) I have to call the office I am scheduled to work in and tell them I can't work that day.

If I made no sense, I'm sorry.  I'm just tired.

  • Could you have everyone over another day while you are already there?  Or are your days already jam packed with things to do?  Staying a whole extra week is a HUGE change in plans with two small kids.

No because we will only be there one weekend (as of now), and we have a wedding that Saturday and who knows what on Sunday.   I'm pretty sure the rest of the week is full, plus people work during the week.

I'm more mad at the fact that I may have to tell this girl "Sorry I can't work for you" when I made a committment and I should honor that as an employee.  Otherwise she may not ask me to cover for her again.
