when you guys were talking about remembering when kurt cobain died, i started thinking about all the days i remember. my 3rd tri board had a thread on 9/11 about where you were when you found out... what other days can you come up with?
when the challenger blew up, i was in third grade and we were all watching the launch in every classroom, because of the teacher on board. only about half the class realized what was happening before the teachers shut the news off and started losing it.
i remember being in the car with my parents listening to the radio when the wall in berlin came down.
we were in las vegas seeing blue man when the crocodile hunter died (ok, i know that's a weird one, but i remember really vividly that the entire audience was talking about it before curtain.)
i knew people in high school who drove down to waco when the branch davidians were fighting the atf.
what am i missing? anybody else as old as i am?

Re: days you remember forever
I remember when the Berlin wall came down... and I also remember the first summer Olympics when the former Soviet countries used a different flag kinda like the olympic flag because they didn't have one yet (the summer olympics in Atlanta).
I remember the Oklahoma City bombings and Timothy McVeigh.
I remember when they found the Unabomber in Lincoln, MT (I grew up in Great Falls, MT).
I remember 9/11, of course. And even though it's pretty recent, I'm going to remember when Saddam Hussein was tried and hanged, and when the SEALs got UBL.
I remember all of those plus:
The eruption of Mt. St. Helens. I was 3 1/2, but I remember seeing the dissipating ash cloud from my house. Which is cray cray because we were about 100 miles away.
I remember when Reagan was shot.
I remember when they executed Ted Bundy.
I remember the OKC bombing.
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
1--I remember Challenger, in elementary school
2--Berlin Wall, crowded hallways in middle school
3--was getting ready for work when I heard about Princess Di dying
4--at my office when the first 9/11 plane hit the towers; went for my 15min break walk, and returned right as the 2nd plane hit. I left early that day to give blood, got sunburned waiting to get into the center and they wouldn't take my blood because my temp was too high due to the sunburn. I also remember walking back to my car that evening, and it was just eerily silent downtown. That was a frustrating/scary day...
I remember seeing the very first video played on MTV (video killed the radio star).
I remember when Jessica McClure fell into the well.
I remember when Ryan White was diagnosed with AIDS.
ETA: I also remember when Flight 255 crashed in Detroit.
Pitfall & Frogger were my favorites. I also rocked at Pole Position.
Pole Position.. now there's a game that would have a whole 'nother meaning these days.
I remember when an Apple IIE was the computer to have.
I remember using a rotary dial.
I remember this being in the stores:

I remember being pissed that the news report about the car crash pre-empted Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman. That was before we found out that Princess Di passed away, though. Then I felt bad for being pissed.

oh wow, now i feel bad forgetting to list the okc bombing and mcveigh.
i also remember jessica in the well. and i remember watching the columbine shootings with my roommate in college. i remember watching oj fleeing down the closed highway at like 40 mph.
i remember seeing et in the theater, but my sister and i had to be removed before the ending. that was some scary ***.
1- The OJ trial, and the verdict. I was sitting in my 7th grade science class at the time.
2- The Columbine High School shootings. We where at lunch when it came over the car radio. It was my junior year in H.S.
3- 9/11- I was inside the pentagon when the plane hit. I just got back down to my desk after going up to the McD's to get some breakfast.
4- The 2003 Iraq invasion. I was waiting in Kuwait for our turn to enter the country.
5- I will always remember the death of Saddam, and UBL as well.

And it was at a drive-in to boot.
Roger Rabbit was my first movie. I am ashamed.
I was in school when the Challenger blew up, I don't remember where I was when the Berlin Wall came down, I was at home when the Trade Towers came down..I remember vividly looking outside thinking how beautiful it was while listening to the TV. I was in high school waiting with everyone else to find out if OJ was guilty or not. I don't remember what I was doing when Kurt Cobain died. I was in HS when Biggie Smalls and Tupac got killed. DH and I were talking last night about how we were at the fireworks store when I heard about Michael Jackson.
Wow. Craziness how it brings it back when I think of these things!
