Water

I am the worst water drinker ever. Pre-pregnancy I would basically just drink coffee all day long. Now I am seriously trying to replace my love for coffee with H20, and am failing!  How much water do you ladies typically drink in a day? I am having a hard time with drinking more than 4 glasses per day. Any suggestions?

Re: Water

  • I love to mix mine with some crystal light. But I get anywhere from 5 to 6 glasses a day. Just try keeping a water bottle by you at all times.

  • I personally cannot drink the mixes in water - the artificial sweeteners in them seem to make me really nauseous. What I do is put a lemon or lime wedge in with my water - Makes it A LOT easier to drink and gives it a little flavor too! This is the BEST way I have found to keep myself drinking more. Try it! I love it!

Yum, lemon in your water is so good. Or really any kind of fruit would make it taste good.

  • Have you tried bottled water? Just keep a bottle with you at all times, that usually makes me drink more. I also like seltzer, the bubbles soothe my nausea a bit. You could also try lemon, lime, or any other fruit. I like either really cold water with fruit in it or bottled.

  • I love a little lemon juice in mine.  I am drinking about 6-8 glasses a day.

  • I am a freak about water this time around because I ended up on BR for 9 weeks for low-fluid drinking water like it was going out of style.  I was properly hydrated and a leak was never found, but I had to lay around and drink at least one gallon (128 ounces) of water every single day for those nine weeks.  My fluid levels never went up, but they maintained a good enough level to get me to full term.

This time I am drinking at the least 96 ounces per day, plus whatever fluid I drink at meals, usually milk.   I am scared to death of landing on BR again.  Lemons make the water go down much smoother when I don't want to drink any more.

  • I also find that if I use a straw I drink more water.  Always make sure to refill when you run low.  I actually have reminders in my work calendar to get water at 9, 11, 1 and 3 so I don't have the excuse of forgetting to restock.

I'm currently drinking 80-90 oz of water a day.

  • I have a hard time drinking enough water, too.  What has always helped me is keeping a water bottle with me (not necessarily bottled water, that's a waste of money to me) that has a straw.  I drink a lot more a lot faster if I have a straw.  I also agree with PP who suggest lemon or lime.  Cucumber is good, too.

Also, don't put so much pressure on yourself to meet a certain number of glasses a day right away.  I know it's important, but if you put that big of an expectation on yourself you're setting yourself up for failure.  First try a couple days with the goal of drinking 2 glasses of water, then increase by another glass every few days.

Crystal Light and another brand now makes water with only natural sweeteners :)  I just got some!

Also- I am not the best water drinker either, but I bought a cup with a screw on lid and straw- that has helped a lot!!!

Have you tried drinking Crystal Light or some other kind of drink made of mix?  It doesn't have to be plain old water (at least I hope not).    I am having an aversion to water since the m/s started so I've been doing that to get my fluids

I'm having a hard time with just water too- I'm gonna get lemonaide and grape juice to mix with H2O.  I love iced tea too so I need to brew that up (decaf of course).
