Last week I was out of town for a job interview and didn't have internet to post. Boooo. So, we should have a ton more read by this week right? Right? ![]()
If
you'd like to pledge a number of books to read, feel free - its not
required. This is all for fun.
I'll update the list each Monday and,
if you all want, can keep a running list of what we're all reading so
we can share book recommendations or ask for reviews.

Question of the week: How are you finding/making time to read?
Re: **Summer Reading Challenge Check In**
I finished Crowning Glory. It was a really good book! It made me cry in places but it was a good cry and made SO ask what was wrong. haha! I have to find my next book so I am going to read all your reviews.
I try to read for at least 15 minutes before I go to sleep at night. It how I unwind, but LO has not been cooperative this week.
I've been a bad bumpie and haven't updated in a few weeks, but I've read quite a few more books. Kushiels Kushiel's Legacy series: Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen, Kushiel's Avatar, Kushiel's Scion, and Kushiel's Justice, all by Jacqueline Carey. Photographs and Phantoms by Cindy Spencer Pape. I finally finished Starter Wife. And in the Otherworld series: Changeling, Dragon Wytch, and Night Huntress, and I'm currently reading Darkling by Yasmine Galenorn. So, 10 more for me! I think I need to up my "will read" list to 25.
And I find time by reading when I pump, at night after L goes to bed, and when we're traveling (both in the car & at our destinations). I'm a very quick reader, and we've been traveling a LOT recently, that's why I've gotten so many books read.
Yay. I finished The Help as well as "The Dirty Parts of the Bible" (so 2 of 15 down) and I'm now reading "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" - it's nonfiction which is different for me but I really like it so far!
I was reading a ton when I was pumping during my breaks at work but now I usually just get a bit of time in the evening after munchkin has gone to bed. DH got me a Kindle so I could read one-handed and it has really come in handy.
So I forget is 2 out of 10 for me meaning I've finished 2 books or I'm on book #2? Can't remember, LOL!
Anyway I finished Her Fearful Symmetry and then I read Sweet Valley Confidential. I finished SVC yesterday and don't have another book yet, so I'll update when I do.
I was reading while pumping, but I've stopped pumping now, so I just try to sneak in a chapter or so whenever I can.
I am reading "A Daughter's Inheritance" by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller. Good book so far. It's the first in a series (not sure how many books total). I should have it done in a couple of days. It seems to take me about 2 weeks to read a book right now as long as it's interesting to me.
For me, I try to read when the kids are napping or before I go to sleep. I sneak time in during the day sometimes as well. I love reading and it's something I "need" to a certain extent. Quiet time to get my mind off of all the other crazy things in my life.
I'm still reading Handle with Care and am almost done! I love her books and this one is a touchy subject so it sucked me right in.
It's hard for me to find time some days, but I try to read it before bed. Right now I'm staying at my mom's though so me and LO are staying in the living room and I don't want to keep a light on when he's asleep, so I haven't read much lately. I'll have to start reading more during his naps!
I am 11 of 25. I finished Ten Big Ones and also Bel Canto- Ann Patchett. I am currently reading Indulgence In Death- JD Robb.
I make time to read because it is my favorite form of entertainment. I even read sometimes when I'm watching TV (during the commercials). I have been blessed with a LO who looooves to sleep so I find time then to read a few chapters. He takes about 3-4 one to two hour naps per day.
melissa4252008 - 2 out of 5 (Every Last One by Anna Quindlen)
Finished it. LOVED it. Very heavy material, but an easy read. This is kind of funny. I had about 60 pages left, and one night DS woke up around 1 to eat. I fed him, put him back down and then stayed up reading for an hour to finish it. So ridiculous, but it was that good.
I am now reading My Fair Lazy by Jen Lancaster who I love, love, love.
I read on the train mostly. But lately I've been trying to do more reading at night after DS goes to bed and after I finish my night routines.
I finished my first book, The Lacuna! I had a hard time getting into it, not sure if it was the author/book or if it was my competing interests like hanging with B and sleeping. It did get more interesting about 1/3 of the way in, but I still felt overall that she wanted her message heard and got a bit heavy handed about it.
I think my second book is going to be White Tiger, mainly because it doesn't seem too long and it's laying around my house.
As to this week's question - I've actually started taking a cue from MH - I bring a book in with me to the bathroom and read in there. I'm a lot less likely to be interrupted and he's been doing this for years so it's not like he can say anything to me. Like others, I do also try to fit in 15-30 minutes before going to bed.
BFP #2 5/27/12. EDD 2/1/13. m/c and D&C 6/21/12.
Oh, I'm hoping to steal that from my friend when I visit home. She loved it! And I worked with HELA cells back in my lab days so it makes it even more interesting to me.
BFP #2 5/27/12. EDD 2/1/13. m/c and D&C 6/21/12.
7 out of 15 (Wicked Appeite by Janet Evanovich)...still here. I haven't had too much of a chance to read since I've been on a True Blood marathon to get ready for sunday's premiere.
I usually read during nap time or before bed.
Hope the interview went well!
stephy1221 - 3 out of 5 (Men and Dogs by Katie Crouch)
Book was alright. A solid 5 our of 10 wan't a complete waste of time but I wouldn't recommend it either. Up next is "An object of beauty" by Steve Martin.
I usually read when DH wants to watch something on the DVR I have no interest in or when he goes to sleep which is always at least an hour earlier than I do.
