K started daycare 3 hrs - M thru Th last week. today was 2nd week day 1. Today was terrible. I think she almost cried all the time. I brought her home, she fell asleep in the car and is out like a rock. I feel bad that she cried all day, cos she usually is a very social baby. How long did your baby cry if they started aroung the same age? I know younger babies dont know the difference when they are little and older ones know how to play on their own.
Re: At 9 months how much crying is okie at new daycare
We always tell parents that most children, regardless of age, need about two full weeks to completely transition. Mondays are always hard on children becasue they've been home for two days with Mommy, daddy, or both.
My son is transitioning into his new classroom today. He's been at our preschool (where I work as well) since he was 8 weeks old. Even after being here for 18 months he cries for a new classroom transition. I know its hard to know you child is upsetand crying ( I hear Ethan from my office, he cried for 2 hours straight today.0 big hus to you...just know that she will adjust and be your happy social baby in no time!
thanks Jess for reassuring me that K will be okie. Because I am beginnign to question so many things. I know this is the best daycare provider I could have found for her. She is a very loving and caring lady. Ona rough day I begin to think so many things though- did the daycare lady not understand her signal? was she sleepy maybe?? maybe she didnt distract her with a toy?? maybe K just doest like her and I need to find another one?? and some of these are baseless woriees....but as a new mom ,I just cant stop thinking of the worse!!!:((
DItto Jess.
My boys were in daycare from 4 months until they were 8 months old. Then due to a work situation, I took them out of DC for a month, then started them at a new DC at 9 months old. OMG, the HORROR. You would think I was dropping Harrison off at the slaughterhouse.
It's been almost 2 months, and most mornings he doesn't wail anymore. But today, we had some big fat tear drops. The first week was really really hard as he went on food strike, but now days he is always happy playing by the time I get back to my car.
3 hours seems like such a short time! Mine are in DC an average of 10 hours a day.... and for the most part, they LOVE it. They almost always come home happy.
