Jackson is out...any other suggestions?

After yet another friend of a friends baby being called Jackson, we have crossed it off our list which is a shame because it is the only boy name we both love.

Even though we still have a long way to go and baby could be a girl, does anyone have any suggestions? We like strong names that don't sound made up and aren't too biblical.

    Since you like Jackson, I'll try and stick to names that fit into that mold...

    Mason, Max, Paxton, Griffin, Lawson, Dawson, Carson, Landon, Brayden, Ashton,
    Rylan, Cooper, Carter, Hudson.

    I like Ashton and Hudson. It stinks when people steal your names! lol. i have a couple names I love and have always wanted, but they are taken by close relatives already... booooo.

    How about Jack instead of Jackson? Or, you could just go with Jackson if you both really love it. Just because a friend of a friend's child is also Jackson doesn't mean you can't use it too. You could always reconsider because ... are you really going to know those other people your whole life/care what they think? And it's not like you are never going to encounter another Jackson (even if no one you knew used that name now, chances are he will meet another Jackson in his lifetime). Just a thought.

    My friend and I both named our sons Jackson.  She was due 3 weeks before me, but ended up having him 6 weeks before me. 

    I really didn't care that she used the name.  It was the only name DH and I agreed on and who knows if we will still be friends in 5 years.  It would suck to not name you child something you love because of a friend, only to lose touch later and realize it really didn't matter.

    I say if you like it, use it.

    Other suggestions though:

    Harrison, Hudson, Landon, Oliver, Owen, Eli (nms, but pretty popular now).
