what's your backup carseat?

I'm looking for a cheaper convertible carseat for DH's and grandmother's car. I gave away by baby bargains book and am looking for a high quality but less expensive seat. Thanks :)

    Baby Bargains recommends the Cosco Scenera as the "grandma" seat.  We have two (one for the former babysitter, one for DH/flying).  They often go on sale for $35-40 at Target/Walmart, and there is now one that goes to 40 lbs RFing (which I also saw on sale for $40 a month or so ago).  Even full-price, they are only about $50.  Good luck!

    Ditto. My mom has the Scenera. I wouldn't want to use it for a long car trip or even as our every day seat since there's not much padding, but it's great in her car. And you can't beat the price.

    We went with the Evenflo Triumph.  We use it maybe once a week, so not as infrequently as, say, a grandparent might.  I love it.

    I asked my mom to buy the Evenflo Triumph Advance.  She already had a Marathon, and I didn't think she needed two Britaxes since we had just one kid at the time!  Good luck!
