Babies on the Brain

Grr DH

In making plans for the move this summer and new jobs, DH mentioned that our health insurance doesn't take effect until the end of September.

::long pause::

Me:Uhh, DH, you said they agreed to start health insurance and other benefits at the end of July.

DH: Yeah, turns out HR didn't approve that. It's okay though, we can wait it out.

Me: Uhh, not if we want to get pregnant.

DH: Huh. I guess I hadn't thought of that.

So now I have to wait until we know what policy we'll have and find out if they consider pregnancy a pre-existing condition. Which I'm sure they will....

Re: Grr DH

  • Legally you can't consider pregnancy to be a pre-existing condition can you?

    Also, I'm sorry that sucks.

  • I would also let him know you are going to have to hire movers to do every last bit of that heavy lifting since you can't afford for one of you to get hurt.

  • Wow, that sucks.  However, they can't consider it a pre-existing condition.

  • That sucks! I really hope it works out. It seems our TTC plans have been moved back to August due to this long ass cycle and having to TTA in July, so I'm right there with you.

  • We're going out to NY next weekend to meet with the new job and sign some paper work. We're going to swing by HR and talk with someone in person.

    I'm just feeling half-glass-empty and assuming we won't be covered for anything until September. Murphy's Law, we wouldn't be covered and we'd end up with a costly pregnancy and delivery (God forbid).

    I'm hoping that it can all be resolved easily (in writing) and we can go on our merry way, but there's no way in heII that we're going to TTC without knowing that we have health insurance.

    I was going to go with "I packed and moved every damn thing to get us out here, you can do it yourself or hire movers. Your choice."
