Is anyone else super lonely?

So my husband works a lot and I am home with our daughter.. we used to have the house everyone wanted to come to and hang out at.. I kinda thought that once she arrived people would still come over and keep me company.. BOY was I wrong!  I find myself alone so much and I love my daughter but I am so lonely.. everyone we used to hang out with is not on the same page.. they have no interest in having kids any time soon.. and we are 31!!   I just wish I had more mom friends around.. I can only talk to the baby for so long without going a bit mental.. does anyone else feel this way?

I hear ya! DH works four 13 hour night shifts a week and so most of the time he is actually home he is asleep. We are also the first of our friends to have a baby and so I haven't seen much of them since DS's arrival. It seems to help now that DS is a little older and we can do more things during the days like go for long walks, go to the pool, etc. but I definitely get lonely at times (especially after he goes to bed like right now) and definitely wish I had mommy friends too. Hang in there!

  • I can feel like that too sometimes, maybe not so much as lonely as I am bored some days. Staying home with DS sometimes makes me crave for adult conversation! Is there something like a "Mommy and Me" class you could maybe join to keep you occupied? Just a thought...
  • Yeah I feel lonely in that I can't go out and hang out on the patio at bars with my friends anymore or go to concerts or any if the stuff I used to do cause Jule is too little. Well that and bars aren't for babies lol. So now I just hang out with him and while he's great, it's a little lonely. My BFF is going to have a little girl in September so hopefully that helps. She's in her third trimester lazy spell and I don't blame her for just sticking to the couch for now.

  • Most of my friends have kids already, but are older so they're not home all day like me.  I joined meetup.com and from there I joined 3 or 4 local mommy groups.  They have different outings each week, quite often just stroller walks or coffee dates.  Sometimes they're baby playdates or Mommy & Me movies (our theatres have shows that have lower volume, brighter lights etc and are cheaper in the daytime).  I highly recommend joining meetup.com and maybe you will find some new friends who are in the same stages of life as you!!
