Success after IF

IUI today did not go as planned...

Well this is my first medicated cycle TTC #2. We are trying Clomid+trigger+IUI for a few rounds. I had a follie check on Thursday and had 4 or 5 decent 14mm with an E2 around 400. Went back yesterday and they were still around the same size maybe a bit larger..but not any larger than 14-16mm.  Well when my levels came back yesterday my E2 dropped significantly which means that my body actually decided to act normally (yeah..nice timing) and I started on ovulate on my own yesterday. My RE told me to trigger yesterday even though my follies were probably not mature and we went ahead with the IUI today. He said that he has seen women get pregnant in this situation before but it feels so hopeless.

Has this happened to anyone else or have you ever had to trigger smaller follies?

  • The same thing happened to me a couple years ago. They cancelled the BtB IUI's and did one at 18 hrs. post trigger. Hope this is the lucky one for you!!

  • This happened to me on my very first IUI.  I went in for my 1st day of monitoring and my body had already started to ovulate so we triggered that night and did the IUI the next day.  We altered my schedule for all future IUIs to makes sure that didn't happen again.  That cycle didn't work for us, but none of our other IUIs worked either so I don't think that was the reason it didn't work.  My RE said the timing should have been fine even though it didn't go as planned.  Good luck and I hope it worked!
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • This is almost exactly what happened when DD2 was conceived!  Her follie was only 14.6mm or so.

And DD1's follie was 15.9mm -- different scenario though.

Small can be good, I promise!  My fingers are crossed for you.

    Good luck!
