Skyping with SIL could be painful

BIL/SIL/nephew (age 2) live across the country and every Sunday evening they Skype with the inlaws so they can see nephew, etc. We've never participated except Christmas morning, which was basically watching nephew open presents for hours on end. We're going to dinner at ILs tonight and SIL texted me and said we should skype with them this evening while we're there.

She said, and I quote "It will be amazing - we have lots of surprises in store!" <insert accompanying SQUEE here>

I seriously hope there's no pregnancy announcement involved in the amazing surprises because I have a very expressive face and I don't think I would be able to hide my pain via Skype. Plus I know they don't want another child until nephew is 5, if at all. It makes me sad that this was my first thought when anyone says they have a surprise.

The other option I can think of is that SIL has this rich aunt who has allegedly offered to buy them a PLANE, and BIL is getting his pilot's license so they can fly across the country to visit, to "save money on airfare." ILs know about the pilot license, I think, but SIL wanted to wait and tell everyone together about the plane (I only know because other SIL confided to me about it).

Heaven grant me the strength to endure a skype session with my wacky SIL and endure her amazing surprise announcements.

Oh my. I really hope it is a plane or a lottery win or a new car or something else like that.

Is there anyway you can run out of the room with "to the bathroom" right as you guys turn on the skype? (Maybe it would be believable right after dinner) I do that sometimes when DH calls his parents and I don't feel like talking to them and just hide there until he's done. Embarrassed

I'm sorry, fingers crossed it isn't the dreaded "we got knocked up earlier than we wanted but we're so happy about it!!!!" conversation. I'm with you, that's always my first thought when people tell me they have big juicy knews to share, especially with family.

I would think the same thing about the "surprises", it is most def a pregnancy announcement. I really hope it isn't, I really hope you don't have to deal with that and not even be able to hide your rolling eyes and pissed off expression. As for the plane thing, are you fvcking kidding me? I have no words...
