No gender neutral clothing??

So I'm having odd urges to begin stockpiling items for Peanut, even though I haven't had my showers yet.  No real explanation for it, but since I'm still earning a paycheck, I figured I could start buying things we'd need.  We won't find out the gender for a few weeks, so I've been looking for neutral clothing.  Is anyone else finding it difficult to shop for neutral colors/patterns?  Seriously, every online store or even the brick & mortar stores separate the clothes into boy & girl.  Some straight down the middle!

Grrr!

Ok, vent over :)

Re: No gender neutral clothing??

  • Yep, I agree. All I have found are pjs with like yellow duckies. It seems there really isnt much for gender neutral. Im curious how those who are team green do it. For me I just wont buy any clothes till we find out .

  • I've run into the same thing. I wanted to get DH something that said "I <3 Daddy" but freaking EVERYTHING was pink. It took me forever to find something in neutral. Team Green ladies, let us know where you have had good luck!
  • This is one of the top reasons we are team green, because we will spend a lot less before the baby is born! I did notice BRU had some gender neutral items, Carter's also makes a few. Since the baby is mostly in sleepers right away I am not worried at all. I am going to buy a pink and a blue outfit for coming home, but other than that, we will not spend much until after baby!

  • I have bought lots of gender neutral clothing, but all from online retailers.  I have had little to no luck in physical clothing stores.

Check out Land of Nodd and Diapers.com.  They have some nice quality organic clothing and many gender neutral prints, colors, and patterns.

  • I understand your urge to want to stockpile. It may be a nesting thing because I was definitely feeling it yesterday. I paced myself though and only ordered some baskets that will go in the nursery room to put crap in.

I have definitely had to search around for gender neutral items. I found some sleepers that were white with green froggies all oveer them and a yellow and white duck fleecy sleep sack that will be perfect for winter nights.

Target has some really cute onesie and cap sets that are greens and yellows. They come in a set of 5 onesies and one is like striped yellow and green, one is green, one is yellow, one is green yellow polka dots, and one is white. They also have gender neutral wash clothes and recieving blankets.

I'm not going crazy on buying stuff but its fun to pick something up every now and then.

    Good luck!

  • We were team green with both. I didn't really get a lot of clothes in advance. The gender neutral stuff that I do have I thought was too girly for my boys and I think it will be too yellow and green if I have girls. But we got tons of clothes after the baby - people gave us mainly clothes as gifts. I feel the same way about baby blankets - no green or yellow! If you do want to buy stuff, anything plain white (onesies, sleepers, socks, blankets) would be good!

  • We're team green and have gotten a few gender neutral clothing items as gifts. But honestly, I'm not worried about finding too much in gender neutral, because I know that both sets of grandparents are going to go crazy with buying clothing after the birth. Honestly, I have friends who found out the sex beforehand and got so many outfits that they never even used them all. Plus, I figure that the first few weeks I won't really care what my kid wears- I'll be too tired!
