Baby Names

help us pick a name (XP)

We have it narrowed down to six, with two favorites. DD's name has significant meaning (Grace), so the meaning is important for this one too. Here's the list:Favorites: Elizabeth - we really like the meaning (God is bountiful), but don't like how common the name is. I also like Beth for short, but DH likes Liz and I don't want her having two nicknames. Annalise - we like the meaning (Grace) and it isn't common, but to me it sounds Spanish and we aren't Spanish (I know that might sound weird, but it just feels odd to me, probably b/c I know a lot of Spanish people). I'm also not crazy about using Anna for short. Others:Elyse
Eve
Eden
BethanyThanks for your feedback!

  • I like Elizabeth nn Libby and Bethany the best from your list.

  • I love Annalise.  I don't think that it sounds Spanish.  You could also use Elise as a nickname if you like.

I also really like Elise (although I prefer this spelling).

Eden and Eve are both great names but I would assume that your family was very religious considering your DD's name Grace.  That's not necessarily a bad thing, just something to consider.

I don't care for Bethany but it would allow for the use of the nickname Beth.

  • I loved the name Elizabeth too but also thought that it was way too common however when I had DD and was in the hospital, a nurse showed me her Bible and how the name was originally spelled with an "S" which I absolutely loved right away so we went with Elisabeth.
  • annalise is amazing, but having anal in it kills it for me. annelise or anneliese might help. otherwise eden gets my vote!

I like Eden and Eve.  Elizabeth is just OK to me.  I don't care for the rest of the names.

  • I like Elizabeth precisely because it has a lot of nickname potential.  I really like Betsy and Libby as nns.  I also like Elise (spelled this way).

  • I really love Annalise and Bethany. Also, have you thought of Lisbeth? Know some adults with that name I like it. Good Luck!
  • I like Anneliese and Elise.

I have only known one Annaliese (spelled like this), and she was white, not spanish. Everyone called her Anna, but she still had a longer, more formal name.

My MN was Elizabeth (before marriage) and I LOVE it. I thought it meant "consecrated to God" though? I think the meaning and name are both beautiful, and although its semi-popular, it is a classic name that isn't trendy and won't ever be dated.

REALLY don't like Eve or Eden, sorry. Bethany is OK as well as Elise. (I prefer the i spelling, also)

Since meanings are important to you, why don't you look up some Christian naming websites and find some meanings. That is what my DH and I did and it really helped!

I like Elizabeth.. nn Libby. My fn is Beth (not short for Elizabeth.. just Beth. Ugh.) and I think it's pretty boring/blahh.

I like a PP suggestion about Lisbeth.
Other vote would be for Elyse, don't care for the rest
