help please, constant tightness? Braxton Hicks?

last night I got "crazy" and went to a going away party after work for 2 of my co-workers who are leaving. I work at a restaurant , so this was after a 6hrs shift on my feet.  of course they live in the 3rd floor apt and i was totally winded by the time i got my butt up there.   the whole time I was there (about 45min), I had stomach tightness.  it almost felt like someone was pushing down on my belly also. I never had BH w/ #1 and so i just did a search to get some info.seems like BH are usually more of a coming and going thing.  I kept reading "I got 4-5 in an hour" type stuff on message boards.   like i said, this was a constant tightness, bordering on painful.  I kept taking deep breathes and drank 2 glasses of water but it didn't help.  when I got home and in bed it was still happening.  I eventually fell asleep but still feel the tightness today (esp. when i stand or walk), but it's not nearly as bad as last night.   is this call the Dr. worthy or should i just wait it out? I know this is when the baby really starts growing also, so i'm not sure if it's just stretching from that? TIA.

  • With Braxton Hicks you should notice a start and stop if you are paying attention. As far as the growth thing, I am finally in the last day starting to feel better from what must have been a massive week long growth spurt because I am definitely bigger at the end of it. I don't remember having anything so uncomfortable with DD and you would think with things already stretched out it would be less likely to happen this time yet it did.

  • The way I see it, it never hurts to call your Dr.  They will probably recommend you relax and stay off of your feet as much as possible, drink loads of water, etc.

  • You just described exactly what was happening to me starting last thursday night after going to the gym.  I had B-H with my daughter so this has made me a bit more nervous b/c I was still feeling it yesterday.  I've been taking it as easy as possible and paying attention to where the movement is because I think there's a possibility that she flipped head down (maybe something about all the movement triggered it?) and that is accounting for feeling some pressure.  I also think it's possible that I just got really sore after doing too much thursday night and it's taking my body a while to recover.  Regardless, this weekend I decided it has made me uneasy enough to call tomorrow morning.

  • When i work I'm on my feet also and if I have a tough shift or over do it, I get the same uncomfortable tight hard feeling too.  Mine always go away if I lay down for an hour or so.  You should consult your Dr.  My concern is it not going away with rest.

  • I get long stretches of constant pressure that I might describe as tightness. For me it happens if I have been sitting in the same position for a while. I told my doctor and she said that it is completely normal, but it never hurts to call your doctor though.

  • I had the same thing and thought it was BH. But when I described it as lasting for 30+ minutes my MFM told me it isn't BH and just normal pregnancy growing pains. I would give your doctor a call anyway just in case.

  • I am so glad that you posted this. I am a waitress too and this exact thing happened to me today when I got home from work. I feel better now after laying down, propping my feet up, and drinking lots of water. I don't think it helps that our heat index here is 115 today Tongue Tied I hope that you feel better soon.
