Quarry Splash Pad in Leander

DD and I went opening day and loved it. So we took Dh with us today and he had a really good time too. Of course they have concessions and the first thing Dh did was get 2 hot dogs, bag of chips and a drink. DD loves the sand pit so I need to remember to bring shovels and pails next time. Dh went down the water slide with her and we all stood in the waterfall to cool off. While it is $1 a person to get in, it was much better that some of the other splash pads we have gone to as it is larger and the kids aren't so crowded.

If you haven't gone yet it is a lot of fun and I think worth it. There are plenty of picnic tables, pavilions and areas to sit. We just laid out our towels on the astroturf grass and left our cooler of drinks and snacks there.

  • Cool!  I was thinking about checking it out, but I was afraid it would be too crowded.

  • We had a great time when we went, but with some reservations.  I couldn't believe how hot the astroturf was, even after laying down our towels I was worried about DD getting burned.

Maybe I'm the only crazy mama that brings her non-walking kid to these places, but my DD's knees and feet were seriously torn up.  I kept checking and they looked fine while we were there, but after getting home they were really brush burned :(

We both had a good time and it's well worth the $1 each, but I'll be more prepared next time.

  • Do you have any baby legs?  I used to put those on Kate with her bathing suit when I took her to the sprinkler park.  I was worried about her knees too.  :)

  • We went on Monday and loved it as well. The day we were there was pretty crowded because a summer day camp had their kids there on field trip, but even still, there was plenty for DD to do and have fun! We'll definitely be back!

    Ooh, that's a good idea!  Thanks :)

  • I really liked the way it looked, but I felt kinda unimpressed.  I felt that there should have beed more sprinkers coming out of the ground or tall ones that pour water down.  I agree about the astroturf too, it was so stinking hot.  Maybe I'm used to the Brushy creek or Robin Bledsoe splash pad where the water actually creates puddles to jump in, I just felt nervous about the hard cement and kids running everywhere.  You cant beat the $1 entrance fee though.

  • I think next time I will bring a blanket and I have DD wear her water shoes as the grass is indeed freaking hot.
