Success after IF

Thank you and an update

Thank you ladies for the T&P's and thank you PBL for posting on my behalf :)

Thur. night I was having a lot of contractions and went to L&D expecting to be put on mag and sent home in a couple of days. Instead I found out I was 60% effaced dilated to 2, my ffn came back positive and given my first steroid shot. I was put in an ambulance and taken to the airport to be medivaced to Oahu where there is a hospital with a nicu.

It was one of the scariest flights ever! It was a tiny plane and it was dark and windy! When I got to Oahu the Dr. here checked me I had dilated to a 5 and I think I was 70% effaced. Poor DH wasn't able to fly over with me and was in a panic. He needed to go home and pack for everyone and find someone or a kennel to take the dog. It looks like we will be here for a while so there was a lot to take care of.

Last night I had my second steroid shot and taken off mag.  I did well through the night with no contactions but they are starting to come back. At this point the Dr. said they will not do anything else to stop labor so we are just waiting to see what happens. We had an u/s yesterday and the babies looked great! Baby A was measuring 5lbs4oz and baby B is 6lbs1oz, both are head down and we are going to attempt a vaginal delivery. The Dr. hasn't checked me since yesterday for fear of stirring things up so last info I have is dilated to a 5-6 and 90% effaced.

Ugh the nurse just checked and I am contracting every 4-8 min.  I will update when I can.

Thank again!

  • Praying and thinking of you and your family!  I bet that was a scary flight!

It sounds like you're going to have two more babies soon.  Good luck with everything!

  • Wow, what a scary experience!  And so stressful on top of everything when you have to coordinate between islands.

Indeed the babies sounds great!  How amazing would that be if after all of this you were able to deliver both babies vaginally?

I wish you the best!  Thinking of you!!!

  • The babies weights sound very good!  I had Aly at 34 weeks, 4 days and she was 5 lbs 4 oz.  She was perfectly healthy and needed no nicu time at all!  We also had the steroid shots so I know that really helped with her lung development.  The only issues we had were normal preemie feeding issues.  We fed her through a syringe at first and she slept more than most newborns due.  Otherwise, perfectly normal though!  Good luck!

  • Lots of good thoughts for you and your little ones.
  • Wow, and I thought being in labor in the car on the way to the hospital was bad . . . I would NOT have been pleasant to be around during that flight-- way to go!

Sounds like your babies will be early but are healthy and ready to come out and meet the world! Will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way!
