DS has been doing this constantly the last week or so. Most feedings he will latch on, pull away, latch on immediatly again, like 10 times on each side. He is also very aggressive! Kicking legs, flailing arms, and pulling hair. I don't know if he's just distracted, or frustrated with slow flow, or even that his mouth hurts (beginning to have a tooth want to poke through already). It's sooooo frustrating! I don't want to wean him yet, but it's hard. He does better if he's really tired. Any ideas?
Re: Pulling away while nursing
I've been having the same issues and discovered this today. I think it's just a gas thing.

My daughter was doing exactly what the OP described, and I saw several lactation consultants because of it (she was clawing at her own face, scratching me, and cutting her feedings short because she'd cry so hard). They determined that it was a slow flow issue- she was used to a nice strong flow in the early weeks, and as my body got used to her feedings, it slowed down production and she would get frustrated. I've increased my supply and it has helped.
Good luck!

Same here. I do find he's worse if my boobs aren't full. He gets a little pissy if he has to work for it.
